IEM-3300-14T2S Description
IEM-3300-14T2S is a Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series expansion module for modular industrial switch deployments that need additional copper access ports plus SFP uplink flexibility. It adds 14 100/1000 Mbps RJ45 copper ports and 2 100/1000 Mbps SFP ports to Cisco-listed IE3300 and IE3400 modular base systems, creating a 16-port mixed-media expansion block and a 26-port total system configuration when installed. Cisco identifies this module as non-PoE, limited to one expansion module per base system, and not hot-swappable, with 16W module power consumption, DIN-rail installation, and a compact 6 x 3.6 x 5.3 in. form factor for industrial edge cabinets.

Application Scenarios
IEM-3300-14T2S fits IE3300 or IE3400 base-switch plans where most added links terminate on 100/1000Mbps RJ45 copper and only two expansion links require SFP fiber.
Use this module when the bill of materials needs a 16-port expansion block and the fiber requirement is limited to two SFP ports. Cisco documents only one expansion module per base system, so the media split has to be correct in the selected module.
This SKU belongs on non-PoE expansion plans. If the added copper endpoints need switch-provided PoE or PoE+, the IEM-3300-14T2S port map should not be treated as a substitute for a Cisco-listed PoE expansion module.

- In an IEM-3300-14T2S vs IEM-3300-16T comparison, both modules keep a 16-port expansion count and 26 total system ports, but IEM-3300-14T2S reserves two ports for 100/1000Mbps SFP while IEM-3300-16T is all copper.
- The IEM-3300-14T2S difference from IEM-3300-6T2S is density: both are mixed copper and SFP modules, but IEM-3300-14T2S raises the expansion count from 8 ports to 16 ports.
- For IEM-3300-14T2S vs IEM-3300-8S, the comparison changes the media plan from copper-heavy mixed media to an 8-port all-SFP module.
- The which model to choose check should start with the expansion media map, because the confirmed differences are copper count, SFP count, total expansion ports, and physical width class.
Selection Guide
1. Preserve the 14 plus 2 media split
Choose IEM-3300-14T2S when the approved base switch needs fourteen 100/1000Mbps copper expansion ports and two 100/1000Mbps SFP expansion ports in the same module.
2. Keep the double-wide expansion count
Use IEM-3300-14T2S for a 26-port total system plan. Move to IEM-3300-6T2S only when an 18-port total system count and six copper ports are enough.
3. Separate copper-only orders from mixed-media orders
Select IEM-3300-16T instead when every expansion port must be copper RJ45. Keeping IEM-3300-14T2S on that order would leave two ports assigned to SFP.
4. Verify host and optics before release
Check the Cisco-listed base switch and SFP transceiver plan before finalizing the order, because the module supplies SFP ports but does not include or validate the optics by itself.
Ordering Checklist

Procurement Check |
Cisco-confirmed Detail |
Why It Must Be Reviewed |
|---|---|---|
|
Base-system family |
Cisco lists IE3300 and IE3400 modular base systems for this expansion module family |
Keeps the module from being ordered for a fixed or unsupported industrial switch |
|
Slot planning |
Cisco documents a single expansion module attached to a base system |
Forces the cabinet design to choose one media mix rather than stacking modules |
|
Media allocation |
The module provides fourteen 100/1000Mbps RJ45 ports and two 100/1000Mbps SFP ports |
Makes the copper-to-fiber split visible before substitutes such as 16T or 8S are selected |
|
Powered-device boundary |
Cisco FAQ marks this module as not PoE or 90-W PoE |
Stops a data-only mixed-media module from being assigned to cameras, APs, or phones that require switch power |
|
Physical fit |
The double-wide module is listed at 6 x 3.6 x 5.3 in. and 2.7 lb |
Adds cabinet-width and mounting-space review to the procurement check |
|
Service handling |
Cisco states expansion modules are not hot-swappable |
Aligns the order with a planned installation window instead of a live replacement assumption |
