C8140-G2 Description

The C8140-G2 gives the 8100 Series its largest routing-only faceplate: two 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo WAN ports, two Flex ports and six LAN ports, ten gigabit positions in a fanless 3.57 lb chassis. Forwarding is 5.6 Gbps, triple the entry models, with 1.5 Gbps of IPsec. Cisco marks it SD-WAN Capable No and publishes no SD-WAN or Threat Protection figure, and it holds the lower table tier at 280K IPv4 routes and 1K VRFs. There is no cellular bay. A 66W external supply powers it at 20W typical draw, and the minimum release is Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1.

2. Where Four Ports Stop Being Enough

C8130-G2 offers two Flex and two LAN positions against the two and six here; a site with more than four wired devices either adds a switch or moves to this model, and the 5.6 Gbps forwarding tier comes with it either way.

3. Cellular Backup Is Not Available At Any Configuration

Cisco supports the LTE and 5G pluggables only on C8151-G2 and C8161-G2; a site needing wireless backup cannot reach it from this SKU regardless of accessory choice, so the requirement decides the model rather than the order lines.
