  • C8475-G2 buys port density from C8455-G2 and nothing else structural: four more SFP+ ports, two more SFP28 ports and 24 Gbps more forwarding, against the same 5.8M routes, the same 3,500 tunnels, the same NEBS levels and the same software floor. A site terminating under ten optical circuits is paying for cages it will not populate.
  • The interesting comparison is against C8550-G2, and it does not run the way the model numbers suggest. C8550-G2 forwards 24 Gbps faster and holds 8M routes with 10,000 tunnels, but C8475-G2 delivers more SD-WAN throughput at 21.7 Gbps against 19 Gbps and offers 25 GE ports that C8550-G2 does not have at all.
  • Tunnel scale is the one ceiling neither 8400 model can lift. Both stop at 3,500 while C8550-G2 reaches 10,000, so an SD-WAN hub terminating more spokes than that has to move series even though C8475-G2 would carry the throughput.
