C8355-G2 Description
The C8355-G2 is a Cisco 8300 Series fixed secure router for large branch sites that terminate 10G WAN circuits. The router has four 10G SFP/SFP+ ports, four 5G mGig RJ45 ports and two 1G RJ45 ports, with 38 Gbps of forwarding, 20 Gbps of IPsec, 3500 IPsec tunnels and 16 GB of fixed DRAM. The only module slot is a PIM for cellular, and the default 110W AC adapter carries no PoE until the 230W AC + PoE supply adds a 120W budget.

Product Performance
Key Features
SD-WAN runs at 8.7 Gbps and Threat protection at 3.9 Gbps, measured with NAT, NGFW, IPS, URL filtering and malware protection enabled. The router supports 3500 IPsec tunnels.
All four 5G mGig ports are UPoE+ capable, but the default 110W adapter carries no PoE. The 230W AC + PoE supply provides a 120W budget shared across those ports.
Two 10G SFP/SFP+ WAN ports are matched by two 10G SFP/SFP+ LAN ports, so a 10G circuit can reach the site core without using the multigigabit copper ports.
Two 5G mGig ports and two 1G RJ45 ports are Flex ports that can serve as WAN or LAN, so a second circuit or extra segment does not need new hardware.
The PIM slot is the sole module bay and takes only cellular pluggables. NIM and SM modules are not supported on this router.
DRAM is fixed at 16 GB and cannot be upgraded. Storage starts at 16 GB and extends to 32 GB, 600 GB or 2 TB depending on the option selected.
Application Scenarios
At a large branch, the router terminates a 10G circuit on its WAN SFP/SFP+ ports and hands traffic to the site core over two 10G LAN SFP/SFP+ ports.
In a branch where wired circuits need a failover path, the PIM slot carries a 5G or CAT7 LTE pluggable alongside the wired WAN ports.
At a branch without a separate access switch, cameras, access points and phones draw UPoE+ from the four powered 5G mGig ports within the 120W budget of the 230W AC + PoE supply.

C8355-G2 and C8375-E-G2 both forward 38 Gbps, but C8355-G2 is the fixed unit with no NIM or SM bay, 16 GB of fixed DRAM and 3.9 Gbps of Threat protection, where C8375-E-G2 adds one NIM and one SM slot, DRAM upgradeable to 32 GB and 7 Gbps. Sites that need a serial, DSL or switch module, or more than 8.7 Gbps of SD-WAN, move to C8375-E-G2, whose 760W supply gives 360W of PoE against 120W here; it also starts at Cisco IOS XE 17.15.3 against 17.18.1. Branches that stay within 19 Gbps of forwarding can order C8235-G2, a 7 lbs desktop unit with the same 120W PoE and 16 GB but 2.4 Gbps of Threat protection.

- PoE supply: Add the 230W AC + PoE supply, which carries the 120W PoE budget. The default 110W AC external adapter has no PoE budget.
- Cellular PIM: Select P-5GS6-R16SA-GL, P-LTEA7-NA, P-LTEA7-EAL or P-LTEA7-JP; only cellular modules are supported on this model. NIM and SM modules from the C8375-E-G2 list do not apply here.
- Storage: Choose the 16 GB default, or the 32 GB, 600 GB or 2 TB option. The option ordered sets the storage capacity.
