C8151-G2 Description
The C8151-G2 is a Cisco 8100 Series Secure Router for small branches that pair a wired circuit with LTE or 5G backup. The fanless router forwards 5.6 Gbps and carries 900 Mbps of SD-WAN traffic at 512 bytes, with two 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo WAN ports, six 1GE LAN ports and 500K IPv4 routes. The cellular slot takes a pluggable LTE or 5G module that is fitted separately, and the router is not a PoE power sourcing device.

Key Features
The cellular slot takes a pluggable module, so the radio can be matched to the region and replaced without replacing the router. The supported modules are P-5GS6-R16SA-GL for 5G SA Global and the CAT7 LTE Advanced P-LTEA7-NA, P-LTEA7-EAL and P-LTEA7-JP for North America, EMEA with APAC and LATAM, and Japan.
Two 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo WAN ports accept a copper or a fibre handoff. Two Flex ports and six 1GE LAN ports serve the devices behind the router.
SD-WAN Capable is Yes, with 900 Mbps of SD-WAN throughput and 1 Gbps of Threat Protection. The router starts at Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1 and Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Release 20.18.1.
The router holds 500K IPv4 routes, 500K IPv6 routes and 4K VRFs, with 100K NAT sessions and 250 IPsec tunnels. A branch that separates several traffic classes has room for them on one chassis.
The 5.1 lb body has no fan, draws 23W typical from a 66W external supply and mounts in a rack, on a desk, under a desk, on DIN-rail or on a wall.
Forwarding is 5.6 Gbps and IPsec 1.5 Gbps at 512 bytes. The SD-WAN figure is measured with IPsec, QoS, deep packet inspection and Flexible NetFlow enabled, and the Threat Protection figure with DIA NAT, ZBFW, IPS, URL filtering and AMP enabled.
Application Scenarios
A small branch lands its fixed circuit on one of the combo WAN ports, and a pluggable LTE or 5G module in the cellular slot carries the traffic if that circuit fails.
A retail store or clinic joins an SD-WAN fabric through the router, which sustains 900 Mbps of SD-WAN traffic at 512 bytes across its gigabit WAN ports.
In an office that keeps point-of-sale, guest and staff traffic in separate VRFs, the router holds the routing tables and connects the local devices through its six LAN ports.

C8151-G2 and C8161-G2 share the same two combo WAN ports, six LAN ports, pluggable LTE or 5G slot, 5.6 Gbps forwarding and 500K IPv4 routes, but C8161-G2 adds 80W of PoE output on its LAN ports and ships with a 150W supply instead of 66W. Sites that power access points or cameras from the router need C8161-G2, because C8151-G2 is not a PoE power sourcing device. Sites that need no cellular and can wait for SD-WAN until Cisco IOS XE 26.2.1 can use C8140-G2, which has the same 5.6 Gbps forwarding and 900 Mbps SD-WAN but holds 280K IPv4 routes and 1K VRFs in place of 500K and 4K.

- Cellular pluggable: Add one of P-5GS6-R16SA-GL, P-LTEA7-NA, P-LTEA7-EAL or P-LTEA7-JP as the module for the deployment region. The router ships without one, and these four pluggables are supported only on C8151-G2 and C8161-G2.
