C8130-G2 Description
The C8130-G2 is a Cisco 8100 Series Secure Router, a fanless gigabit router for small branch offices. The router has one 1GE RJ-45 WAN port, one 1GE RJ-45/SFP combo WAN port, two Flex ports and two LAN ports, with 1.9 Gbps of forwarding, 1.5 Gbps of IPsec and 250 IPsec tunnels at 16W typical draw. SD-WAN is available from Cisco IOS XE 26.2.1, no Threat Protection throughput is published, and the chassis has no expansion bay or cellular module.

Key Features
The router runs autonomous routing from Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1 and joins a Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN fabric from 26.2.1, with 900 Mbps of SD-WAN throughput. No Threat Protection throughput is published, so on-box firewall and intrusion prevention have no Cisco sizing figure here.
Typical draw is 16W on a 30W or 66W external supply, and the chassis is fanless, so the router adds no audible noise and little heat to a retail counter, a classroom or a small office.
The second WAN port is an RJ-45/SFP combo cage, so the same unit terminates a copper handoff or a fibre one, while the first WAN port stays fixed copper.
Six gigabit ports and one console port make up the whole interface set. The 8100 Series has no NIM or SM bay, and this platform offers no cellular module.
IPv4 routes stop at 280K, with 1K VRFs, 2K ACLs and 5K ACEs, so a site that segments traffic into many VRFs or carries large route tables is checked against those limits.
The 40 degrees C operating ceiling derates by 1 degree per 1000 feet, so a site at elevation is planned by subtracting from that ceiling rather than by a pass-or-fail altitude figure.
Application Scenarios
A small branch office terminates its internet circuit on the RJ-45 WAN port, takes a second circuit on the combo port over copper or SFP fibre, and connects local switches to the two LAN ports.
In a Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN deployment running Cisco IOS XE 26.2.1 or later, the router joins the fabric as a branch gateway and carries site traffic at 900 Mbps of SD-WAN throughput.
With rackmount, desktop, under-desk and DIN-rail or wall mounting available, a branch without a comms cabinet can seat the router on a shelf, under a counter or on a wall panel.

Sites that need larger route tables, more VRFs, a published on-box inspection figure or SD-WAN without waiting for Cisco IOS XE 26.2.1 should order C8131-G2, which has a 26.1.1 software floor. A circuit that hands off at 10 Gbps over copper needs C8130H-G2, whose 10G BASE-T WAN port replaces the fixed gigabit RJ-45 WAN port at the same 1.9 Gbps of forwarding, with 22W typical draw against 16W and a 26.1.2 floor.
