IE-3400H-24T-A Description
The IE-3400H-24T-A is a 24-port Cisco Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty Series industrial switch for wall-mounted zones that have no cabinet or climate control. The switch has 24 Gigabit ports on M12 X-coded connectors, a single 9.6V to 60V DC input, IP66/IP67 protection and 49.0W of power consumption at 9.6V. The switch has no expansion slots, so the 24-port count is fixed, and its Network Advantage license is perpetual.

Key Features
A zone that would need a second or third sealed switch connects to a single IP66/IP67 unit with 24 Gigabit ports.
Every port uses an 8-pin X-coded connector that screws home, keeping links up through vibration on rail bogies, cranes and stamping floors.
OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, PBR, VRF-lite, VRF-Aware SGT, TrustSec SGT/SGACL and MACsec-256 are included, so the switch can act as a routed OT boundary.
PRP on ports Gig1/1-1/4, HSR-SAN, HSR-PRP Dual Redbox, DLR, REP and PROFINET-MRP are part of the Essentials baseline inside Advantage.
UN ECE R10, E-Mark and the EN50155:2021 railway group with EN45545-2 apply to this Gigabit model but not to the Fast Ethernet models.
The switch operates from -40°C to +75°C with airflow and up to +60°C in still air, at altitudes to 13,800 ft, and is type-tested for 16 hours at +85°C.
Application Scenarios
A train car can use the switch as its single EN50155-approved node for CCTV, passenger information, traction monitoring and door systems.
Stamping, bottling and packaging zones with more than sixteen cameras, drives, HMIs and quality stations can anchor them on one washdown-rated switch.
Container terminals, mine sites and process yards can replace several small sealed switches with one 24-port switch that provides routed segmentation.

IE-3400H-24T-A is the 24-port model of this Gigabit group: it draws 49.0W at 9.6V and weighs 13.90 lb with brackets, against 41.6W and 11.25 lb for IE-3400H-16T-A, and its MTBF is 439,475 hours against 489,458 hours. A mounting point with 9 to 16 devices fits IE-3400H-16T-A, and 8 or fewer fit IE-3400H-8T-A at 30.4W and 8.45 lb. All three run Network Advantage and have no expansion slots, so the port count chosen at order time cannot be raised later.
Ordering Checklist
- Power input: Provide a 9.6-60VDC source rated for 5.1A at 9.6V and a Molex Mini-Change cordset such as 130006-0737, or use PWR-IE160W-67-DC= from an 18-60V source. The single Mini-Change input rejects cordsets or supplies with another connector.
- Data cordsets: Order M12 X-coded 8-pin cordsets for the populated ports. The Gigabit ports take only X-coded 8-pin M12 connectors, so other codings do not fit.
- Console cable: Order CAB-CONSOLE-M12=, a 6 ft M12-to-DB9F cable. The console port is M12 A-coded 5-pin, so a standard console cable does not connect.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB if removable storage is wanted. The card is an optional part and the switch has no USB port, so no other removable storage is available.
- Catalyst Center license: Add IE3400H-DNA-A with a -3Y, -5Y or -7Y term if Catalyst Center management is planned. The Advantage license is ordered separately and requires a Network Advantage switch, which this -A model is.
