The C9200CX-12T-2X2G-E is a Cisco Catalyst 9200CX Series compact access switch for wall, DIN-rail and under-desk installs outside the wiring closet. The switch has 12 10/100/1000 data ports, two 10G SFP+ uplinks, two 1G copper uplinks and 70 Gbps of switching capacity, and it takes power from an 802.3bt Class 6 PD uplink at up to 51W or an optional 80W adapter. The -E suffix carries Network Essentials, which covers static and Routed Access routing with OSPF up to 1,000 routes but not BGP or PTP.

Product Performance
Key Features
The 1G copper PD uplink accepts 802.3bt Class 6 power at up to 51W, so one cable can carry both the uplink and the switch’s power. An optional 80W AC-DC or DC-DC adapter takes priority over PD power when one is connected.
With no internal fan, the switch makes no fan noise and needs no filter, which suits occupied space such as offices and classrooms.
A magnetic tray, DIN-rail bracket, 19-inch rack bracket, wall tray, under-desk mount or rubber feet for tabletop use all fit the 1.73 x 10.6 x 6.5 in chassis.
Network Essentials includes static routing, Routed Access with RIP, EIGRP Stub and OSPF up to 1,000 routes, PBR, VRRP, 802.1X and MACsec-128.
The SFP+ cages are built into the chassis and sit beside two 1G copper uplinks, so the fiber uplinks need no network module.
The compact chassis has no stacking support, so each unit is configured and managed as an independent switch with 16 SD-Access virtual networks.
Application Scenarios
Under a desk or on a partition wall, the switch connects a cluster of workstations and a printer on its gigabit ports and links back to the floor switch over a 10G SFP+ uplink.
Inside a small cabinet in a shop or depot, the switch mounts on a DIN rail and connects cash registers, label printers and a Wi-Fi access point without needing rack space.
On a wall of a classroom or meeting room, the switch gives the room’s displays, docks and teaching PCs a local connection that is powered over the uplink cable.

C9200CX-12T-2X2G-E and C9200CX-12T-2X2G-A share the same 12 data ports, two 10G SFP+ uplinks, fanless chassis and 70 Gbps of switching, and only the license differs: this -E model runs Network Essentials, while C9200CX-12T-2X2G-A adds BGP, PTP and MACsec-256. Sites that may need those features later can start on this model and apply a C9200CX-LIC= term (C9200CX-12-E-A), which is bought separately and cannot ride on the original order; sites that need them on day one order C9200CX-12T-2X2G-A. Sites that must power PoE+ endpoints from the switch itself need C9200CX-8P-2XGH-A, with a 240W PoE budget from a 315W internal supply but only eight data ports and 60 Gbps of switching.
Ordering Checklist
- Power source: No power supply is included by default, so use an upstream 802.3bt Class 6 or UPOE+ PD feed, or add C9K-80W-ADPT (AC-DC) or C9K-ADPT-DC (DC-DC) with the C9K-ADPT-BRKT-12T bracket. Without either, the switch has no way to power it.
- Subscription tier: Select a Network Essentials subscription matching the -E suffix, such as C9200CX-DNA-E-12 (term PIDs C9200CX-DNAE12-3Y, -5Y or -7Y) or C9200CX-DNXE-12-3Y, -5Y or -7Y. The default is a 3-year Cisco DNA subscription; clear it first to switch to a Cisco Catalyst subscription.
- Console cable: Add a USB micro-B cable, or CAB-CON-USBRJ45 to convert to RJ45. A USB micro-B console cable is not included in the box.
