C9400-LC-24XY Description
The C9400-LC-24XY is a Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series 25G line card for modular campus switches that aggregate access and distribution links over fiber. The card has twenty 25G SFP28 ports and four 10G SFP+ ports usable at the same time, with 480 Gbps of bandwidth per slot on C9400X-SUP-2XL or 240 Gbps on C9400X-SUP-2. The card requires C9400X-SUP-2 or C9400X-SUP-2XL and is not supported on C9400-SUP-1, C9400-SUP-1XL or C9400-SUP-1XL-Y.

Application Scenarios
A modular core or distribution chassis terminates 25G SFP28 uplinks from access switches, and the card’s twenty 25G ports carry those links into the Catalyst 9400 backplane.
In a building where part of the fiber still runs at 10G, the four SFP+ ports and the SFP28 ports operate together in the same slot, so servers and switches can move to 25G in stages.

C9400-LC-24XY is the 25G card of this group, with 20 SFP28 ports plus 4 SFP+ ports, while C9400-LC-12QC provides 12 QSFP+ ports at 40G or 4 QSFP28 ports at 100G plus 4 QSFP+ ports at 40G, and C9400-LC-48XS provides 48 SFP+ ports at 10G or 48 SFP ports at 1G. Links that need 40G or 100G belong on C9400-LC-12QC, which reaches 32 ports at 100G in a full C9410R. Sites that need 10G or 1G density, up to 384 ports in a full C9410R, should use C9400-LC-48XS, which also runs from Cisco IOS XE 17.8 against 17.12.1 for the other two cards. With C9400X-SUP-2XL, C9400-LC-24XY holds 1.125:1 oversubscription, rising to 2.25:1 with C9400X-SUP-2, against 1:1 and 2:1 on the other two cards.
Ordering Checklist
- Catalyst 9400 chassis: Use a C9404R, C9407R or C9410R. The card installs only in a line-card slot of these chassis; supervisor slots do not accept it.
- Supervisor engine: Specify C9400X-SUP-2 or C9400X-SUP-2XL. C9400-SUP-1, C9400-SUP-1XL and C9400-SUP-1XL-Y are not supported, so a chassis with a Supervisor 1 class engine cannot run this card.
