CP-7841-K9 Description
The CP-7841-K9 is a Cisco IP Phone 7841 desk phone in the 7800 Series for staff who cover several lines and keep a PC on a Gigabit link. The phone has four lines, a 3.5 in. 396 x 162 pixel grayscale display, 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet on two RJ-45 ports and IEEE 802.3af Class 1 PoE. The Gigabit ports need four-pair Cat 5, 5e or 6 cabling, and the phone requires an Enhanced User Connect License on Cisco Unified Communications Manager 12.5 and later.

Application Scenarios
At a reception or executive-assistant desk, the four lines let one person answer several extensions from a single phone.
At a workstation with a single cable run, the downstream RJ-45 port connects the PC at 10/100/1000BASE-T, so the computer keeps a Gigabit path through the phone.
In a team area fed from a floor-closet switch, each phone draws IEEE 802.3af Class 1 power from its switch port and registers to Cisco Unified Communications Manager under an Enhanced User Connect License.

CP-7841-K9 is the only 7800 Series phone with 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet and carries four lines against two on CP-7821-K9, which stays on 10/100BASE-T. CP-7841-K9 also needs Enhanced User Connect License while CP-7821-K9 needs Basic User Connect License, so a Basic UCL plan should stay with CP-7821-K9 unless the extra lines or Gigabit are required. Positions that need sixteen lines move to CP-7861-K9, which has the same Enhanced UCL but returns to 10/100BASE-T and is larger at 207 x 265 x 28 mm and 1053 g. All three draw IEEE 802.3af Class 1 PoE.
Ordering Checklist
- CUCM license: Order the Enhanced User Connect License for CUCM 12.5 and later. A Basic UCL plan covers only the 7811 and 7821.
- Power for non-PoE ports: Add Cisco Power Adapter 3 in the regional PID for the destination (for example CP-PWR-ADPT-3-NA=, CP-PWR-ADPT-3S-EU= or CP-PWR-ADPT-3S-UK=) plus the matching CP-PWR-CORD-xx= power cord. Without 802.3af PoE the phone has no power source, and the adapter is a regional PID.
- Wall mount: Order CP-7800-WMK= for the 7841; CP-7811-WMK= and CP-7861-WMK= are different kits. A kit for another 7800 Series model will not fit.
- Gigabit cabling: Use Cat 5, 5e or 6 cable with four pairs between the switch and phone. Gigabit needs four pairs; two-pair cable limits the link to 10/100.
