Built in

DP-9861-K9 and DP-9871-K9 share the same Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, KEM rules and built-in ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent, and are separated by the input model: DP-9861-K9 has 10 physical line keys on an 800 x 480 display with 130 lines, while DP-9871-K9 runs a 1280 x 720 touchscreen with no line keys and 128 lines. Attendant and reception desks that watch many lines by hard key stay on DP-9861-K9, and users who prefer touch navigation move to DP-9871-K9. Fully cabled desks that need only 6 line keys and 46 lines can use DP-9851-K9, which has no radios, no ThousandEyes agent and one KEM at most. Sites that bar RF transmitters need the No Radio build DP-9861NR-K9.

Ordering Checklist

  • Power source: Supply PoE Class 3 (IEEE 802.3af/at) at the access port, or add the regional Cisco Power Adapter 3 PID such as CP-PWR-ADPT-3-NA= or CP-PWR-ADPT-3-EU=. DP-9861-K9 ships without a power supply, so a non-PoE port with no adapter on the order leaves the phone unpowered.
  • Call platform: Use Cisco Unified CM 12.5 or later for on-premises registration, plus any device package the CUCM release needs. An older or unpatched CUCM release does not register the phone.
  • Key expansion: Add DP-9800-KEM= modules, with one on PoE Class 3 and up to three on Cisco Power Adapter 3. The adapter is a separate line item, so a multi-module build ordered without it has no power path.
  • Wall mounting: Add DP-9800-WMK= for the phone, or DP-9800-WMK-88ADP= to reuse an existing 8800 Series wall position; the mount is not part of the phone order.

Questions & Answers

  • What is DP-9861-K9?

DP-9861-K9 is a Cisco Desk Phone 9861 business endpoint with physical line keys, wireless connectivity, and high line capacity. It runs Cisco PhoneOS and supports on-premises, Webex, BroadWorks, and compatible cloud calling platforms.
  • How many physical keys and lines does DP-9861-K9 provide?

DP-9861-K9 provides 10 physical line keys and a 130-line capacity on Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Webex Dedicated Instance. Its 5-inch backlit color LCD has an 800 x 480 resolution.
  • Can DP-9861-K9 register without a wired Ethernet drop?

Yes, DP-9861-K9 can register over dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and supports Bluetooth 5.2 headsets. It also retains a 2-port 10/100/1000BASE-T switch for wired deployments and PC pass-through.
  • Which power arrangement lets DP-9861-K9 run multiple expansion modules?

DP-9861-K9 powers 1 DP-9800-KEM= on PoE Class 3 and up to 3 modules with Cisco Power Adapter 3. The regional local-power adapter is required when an attendant position exceeds one sidecar.
  • Which calling platforms cap DP-9861-K9 at 16 lines?

    DP-9861-K9 uses 10 physical line keys with an 800 x 480 display and a 130-line capacity. DP-9871-K9 replaces the hard-key field with a 1280 x 720 touchscreen and supports 128 lines.
  • Does DP-9861-K9 include network-path monitoring?

Yes, DP-9861-K9 includes a built-in ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent for network path visibility. The phone also provides two-way background noise removal and in-call transcription for supported calling environments.
  • When should DP-9861NR-K9 replace DP-9861-K9?

DP-9861NR-K9 is required instead of DP-9861-K9 when a facility prohibits Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios. The No Radio build retains the Desk Phone 9861 role but permanently removes wireless registration and Bluetooth headset support.
