Fast Ethernet Wiring Retrofit

On floors still cabled for 10/100 Ethernet, the phone connects at the existing speed and passes a PC through its second port without a cabling upgrade.

PoE Class 2 Closet Rollout

In a wiring closet feeding rows of basic desk phones, the phone’s PoE Class 2 draw keeps the load on a shared access switch budget low across a large port count.

DP-9811-K9 is the entry model of this group: it has 2 line keys, a 10/100BASE-T pass-through port and no TPM 2.0 chip, while DP-9841-K9 has 4 line keys, a 10/100/1000BASE-T port and TPM 2.0 at the same PoE Class 2 draw. A desk that passes a gigabit PC connection through the phone, or needs TPM 2.0, moves to DP-9841-K9. More than 4 lines or any Key Expansion Module needs DP-9851-K9, the first model here with module support and 46 lines, at PoE Class 3. DP-9811-K9 also requires Unified CM 14 or later, so a cluster still on 12.5 registers DP-9841-K9 or DP-9851-K9 instead.

Ordering Checklist

  • Power source: Add Cisco Power Adapter 3 in the regional PID, such as CP-PWR-ADPT-3-NA= or CP-PWR-ADPT-3-EU=, for desks without PoE. The phone draws PoE Class 2 and does not ship with a power adapter.
  • TAA or Customized build: Order DP-9811-K9++= for TAA or DP-9811-K9–= for Customized, in place of DP-9811-K9=, since these builds are separate PIDs.
  • Wall mount: Add DP-9800-WMK= for wall-mounted installs; the kit is a separate accessory.

Questions & Answers

  • How is DP-9811-K9 classified?

DP-9811-K9 is the entry-level SIP desk phone in the Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series. It targets individual desks and basic-line roles with a grayscale display, Fast Ethernet pass-through, and PoE Class 2 power.
  • How many line keys and display pixels does DP-9811-K9 provide?

DP-9811-K9 provides 2 physical line keys and a 2-line/programmable key maximum. Its 2.6-in grayscale LCD has a 256 x 132 pixel resolution for basic call and status information.
  • Does DP-9811-K9 support Gigabit Ethernet pass-through?

    No, DP-9811-K9 uses a built-in 2-port 10/100BASE-T Ethernet switch with PC pass-through. A desk requiring 10/100/1000BASE-T pass-through needs a higher Desk Phone 9800 Series model such as DP-9841-K9.
  • Which call-control release is required for DP-9811-K9?

DP-9811-K9 requires Cisco Unified Communications Manager 14.0 or later. It also supports Webex Calling, Webex Dedicated Instance, and Cisco BroadWorks, while older CUCM environments below 14.0 cannot register this model.
  • Which power methods can operate DP-9811-K9?

DP-9811-K9 operates from IEEE 802.3af/at PoE Class 2 or an optional Cisco Power Adapter 3. The local adapter is a separate region-specific item and is not included with the phone.
  • What security hardware protects DP-9811-K9 device identity?

DP-9811-K9 protects its Secure Unique Device Identifier through the onboard SoC rather than a dedicated TPM 2.0 module. A rollout requiring TPM 2.0 hardware must move to another Desk Phone 9800 Series model.
  • How does DP-9811-K9 differ from DP-9841-K9?

    DP-9811-K9 has 2 line keys, a 2.6-in grayscale display, and 10/100BASE-T pass-through, while DP-9841-K9 has 4 keys, a 3.5-inch display, and Gigabit pass-through. DP-9841-K9 also adds USB-A and TPM 2.0.
  • When is DP-9811-K9 unsuitable for a desk deployment?

DP-9811-K9 is unsuitable when the desk needs more than 2 lines, a 9800 Key Expansion Module, Gigabit PC pass-through, or a dedicated TPM 2.0 chip. It is also excluded when CUCM remains below release 14.0.
