DP-9841-K9 is the 4-line gigabit model: against DP-9811-K9 it adds a 10/100/1000BASE-T pass-through port, TPM 2.0, a USB-A port and a wideband handset with transmit-side noise removal, all at PoE Class 2. A desk with a gigabit PC behind the phone, or a TPM 2.0 requirement, rules out DP-9811-K9, which also needs Unified CM 14 or later where DP-9841-K9 registers from 12.5. Desks that need more than 4 lines, a USB-C port, a color display or a Key Expansion Module move to DP-9851-K9, with 6 line keys and 46 lines at PoE Class 3.

Ordering Checklist

  • Power source: Add Cisco Power Adapter 3 in the regional PID, such as CP-PWR-ADPT-3-NA= or CP-PWR-ADPT-3-EU=, for desks without PoE. The phone draws PoE Class 2 and does not ship with a power adapter.
  • TAA or Customized build: Order DP-9841-K9++= (NFC) or DP-9841NR-K9++= (NoNFC) for TAA; DP-9841-K9–= or DP-9841NR-K9–= for Customized. These builds are separate PIDs from DP-9841-K9=.
  • Wall mount: Add DP-9800-WMK= for wall-mounted installs; the kit is a separate accessory.

Questions & Answers

  • What type of desk phone is DP-9841-K9?

DP-9841-K9 is a wired Cisco Desk Phone 9841 running Cisco PhoneOS for on-premises and cloud call control. It combines a grayscale display, 4 physical line keys, Gigabit PC pass-through, and PoE Class 2 power.
  • How many lines does DP-9841-K9 support, and what display does it use?

DP-9841-K9 has 4 physical line keys and a 4-line capacity. Its backlit 3.5-inch grayscale LCD uses a 384 x 160 resolution, positioning it above DP-9811-K9 without moving to a color panel.
  • Does DP-9841-K9 accept the DP-9800-KEM expansion module?

No, DP-9841-K9 does not support DP-9800-KEM. A desk requiring key expansion must move to DP-9851-K9 or a higher compatible model rather than adding a sidecar to this four-line phone.
  • Which network interface connects a PC through DP-9841-K9?

DP-9841-K9 uses an internal 2-port 10/100/1000BASE-T switch with PC passthrough. IEEE 802.1Q VLAN separation lets the phone and connected desktop share one physical LAN drop on separate logical networks.
  • How does DP-9841-K9 power demand compare with DP-9851-K9?

DP-9841-K9 uses IEEE 802.3af/at Class 2, while DP-9851-K9 uses PoE Class 3. The Class 2 model covers four-line desks that need Gigabit pass-through but not the color display or expansion capacity of DP-9851-K9.
  • Which hardware anchors device identity on DP-9841-K9?

DP-9841-K9 uses a TPM 2.0 chip to anchor device identity in hardware. It also supports Secure Boot and image authentication, distinguishing its security hardware from DP-9811-K9's SoC protected SUDI design.
  • Which capabilities does DP-9841-K9 add over DP-9811-K9?

DP-9841-K9 adds 4 line keys, Gigabit PC passthrough, a USB-A port, TPM 2.0, and a wideband handset with transmit-side noise removal. DP-9811-K9 remains limited to 2 lines and 10/100BASE-T pass-through.
  • When should a deployment move beyond DP-9841-K9?

DP-9841-K9 is not sufficient when a desk needs more than 4 lines, a color display, USB-C, or key expansion. DP-9851-K9 provides those capabilities but changes the power allocation to PoE Class 3.
