CP-8831-K9 Description
The CP-8831-K9 is a Cisco Unified IP Conference Phone 8831 base and control panel for North American meeting rooms that register to Cisco Unified Communications Manager. The phone has a 3.5-inch backlit 396 x 162 display, G.722 wideband audio and SIP signaling, and it draws power from IEEE 802.3af PoE Class 3 or a Cisco Power Cube 3. A daisy chain of two units requires the Power Cube 3, because PoE alone does not power the chain.

Application Scenarios
In a boardroom, the phone sits at the center of the table and picks up speakers on all sides through its four base microphones with 180-degree pickup. The wideband G.722 speakerphone carries the call to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager cluster.
A training room that outgrows the base unit adds wired microphones about 7 feet from the base, or DECT wireless microphones that reach roughly 300 feet. The 8831 base and control panel stay the audio hub for the room.
A long divisible meeting room joins two 8831 units with the North America daisy-chain kit and its 18-ft cable. The Cisco Power Cube 3 powers the pair, since a daisy chain cannot run on PoE alone.

CP-8831-K9 and CP-8831-NR-K9 are the same base and control panel, but CP-8831-NR-K9 is the worldwide no-radio version with the DECT radio disabled, while CP-8831-K9 is the standard North America order. Japan orders move to CP-8831-J-K9, and APAC, EMEA and Australia orders move to CP-8831-EU-K9. Each region has its own matching daisy-chain kit: CP-8831-DC-K9=, CP-8831-DC-J-K9=, CP-8831-DC-EU-K9= and CP-8831-DC-NR-K9=. All four use IEEE 802.3af PoE Class 3 and Enhanced User Connect License on Cisco UCM 9.0 and later, so power and licensing do not separate the models.
Ordering Checklist
- Registration license: Add an Enhanced User Connect License on Cisco UCM 9.0 or later. The 8831 needs this license to register to call control.
- Power source: Provide an IEEE 802.3af PoE Class 3 port, or local power with CP-PWR-CUBE-3=. The phone has no power path unless one of the two is chosen.
- Power cord: Add the country cord for CP-PWR-CUBE-3=, such as CP-PWR-CORD-NA= or CP-PWR-CORD-UK=. The Power Cube 3 takes a country-specific cord.
- Daisy-chain kit: Order CP-8831-DC-K9= for North America, with CP-PWR-CUBE-3= for the daisy chain. Daisy chain must use the Power Cube, and the kit PID follows the phone region.
- Microphone kit: Order CP-MIC-WIRED-S= for wired microphones, or CP-8831-MIC-WRLS= for two DECT wireless microphones with charging base. Microphones are separate PIDs and are not added by the base phone line.
