DP-9800-KEM Description
The DP-9800-KEM is a Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series key expansion module that adds programmable line, speed-dial and feature keys beside a compatible desk phone. The module has a 5-inch backlit color LCD at 480 x 800 with 20 physical keys across 2 pages, which gives 40 programmable positions, and it measures 226.0 x 126.0 x 48.5 mm at 483 g. The module has no power supply of its own and draws power from the host phone over USB-A, and it does not work with the DP-9811-K9 or DP-9841-K9.

Application Scenarios
At a lobby or front desk, the operator maps frequently dialed extensions across the module’s 40 key positions beside a DP-9851-K9 or DP-9861-K9 to answer, screen and transfer calls for the whole office.
On an assistant’s desk, the module gives each manager’s shared line its own labeled key next to a DP-9871-K9, so line status stays visible without paging through the phone screen.
At a ward or clinical station with no free desk surface, the module mounts beside a wall-mounted phone with its own wall mount kit and gives staff keys for several departments.
Selection Guide
DP-9800-KEM attaches to DP-9851-K9, which takes one module, and to DP-9861-K9 and DP-9871-K9, which take one module on PoE Class 3 or up to three on Cisco Power Adapter 3. Desks with DP-9811-K9 or DP-9841-K9 cannot use it and need a host change to one of those three phones. A desk that needs more than 40 key positions requires DP-9861-K9 or DP-9871-K9 on local power.
Ordering Checklist
- Host phone: Pair the module with DP-9851-K9 (1 module), DP-9861-K9 or DP-9871-K9 (1 on PoE Class 3, up to 3 on Cisco Power Adapter 3). DP-9811-K9 and DP-9841-K9 do not support the module, and it draws power from the host phone.
- Local power for 3 modules: Add Cisco Power Adapter 3 in the regional PID, such as CP-PWR-ADPT-3-NA= or CP-PWR-ADPT-3-EU=, on DP-9861-K9 or DP-9871-K9 hosts. Without the adapter the host phone limits the desk to 1 module.
- Wall mount: Add DP-9800-KEM-WMK= for a module beside a wall-mounted phone; the module has its own wall mount kit, separate from the phone kit.
