CW9176D1-RTG Description
The CW9176D1-RTG is a Cisco Wireless 9176 Series indoor Wi-Fi 7 access point with internal directional antennas for warehouse aisles and high-ceiling spaces. The access point runs 4x4 radios on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz at up to 18 Gbps, or 23 Gbps in dual 5 GHz mode, over a 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G Multigigabit uplink. Full tri-band operation takes 39W from 802.3bt Class 5 UPOE, whereas 802.3at PoE+ at 25.5W drops the 2.4 GHz radio to 2x2 and turns USB off.

Application Scenarios
Mounted above storage aisles in warehouses and distribution floors, the directional pattern projects each cell down the aisle line, and the UWB and IoT radios support asset location across the racking grid.
Atriums, lecture halls and production floors with mounting heights above a standard ceiling grid can use the focused antenna pattern to carry signal from the mounting point down to floor level.
Across distributed branches under Meraki cloud management, the global use hardware ships as one unit worldwide and settles its regulatory domain and management mode at deployment.

CW9176D1-RTG and CW9176I-RTG are identical except for the antenna: CW9176D1-RTG has internal directional antennas at 7 dBi in an 80 x 80 degree pattern on 2.4 GHz and 8 dBi in 70 x 70 degree patterns on 5 and 6 GHz, while CW9176I-RTG is omnidirectional at 5 to 6 dBi. High ceilings or aisle coverage favor CW9176D1-RTG, and an open ceiling grid that needs an even footprint favors CW9176I-RTG. Both carry 4×4 on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz, a 10G uplink, UWB, GNSS and 39W of 802.3bt power. Sites without UWB or 10G backhaul can use CW9174I-RTG, which has a 5G uplink and 37W maximum but needs Cisco IOS XE 17.18.2 against 17.15.2.
Ordering Checklist
- Power source: Use an 802.3bt Class 5 UPOE port (39W), or the CW-INJ-8 injector. On 802.3at PoE+ (25.5W) the 2.4 GHz radio drops to 2×2 and USB is off, and 802.3af leaves all radios off.
- Controller release: Use a Catalyst 9800 controller (C9800-80-K9, C9800-40-K9, C9800-L-C-K9, C9800-L-F-K9, C9800-CL, CW9800H1, CW9800H2, CW9800M or CW9800L) on Cisco IOS XE 17.15.2 or later. An on-premises controller below this release cannot onboard the AP.
- Subscription line: Add LIC-CW-E (Cisco Wireless Essentials) or LIC-CW-A (Cisco Wireless Advantage), unless software is deliberately opted out at purchase. Without a subscription the hardware loses full functionality, and Cisco management and software updates are limited.
- Mounting brackets: Reuse existing Cisco AP brackets from earlier access points. The 9176 series mounts on carried-over brackets, which can remove bracket lines from the order.
