IE-3000-8TC Description
The IE-3000-8TC is a Cisco Industrial Ethernet 3000 Series Layer 2 switch for DIN-rail cabinets that need eight device connections in one chassis. The switch has eight 10/100 ports, two dual-purpose Gigabit uplinks, a 16 Gbps switching fabric and 6.5 Mpps of forwarding, and it draws at most 15.7 W from an 18 to 60 VDC feed. Each uplink uses its copper port or its SFP port, never both, and the installed LAN Base image provides Layer 2 features only.

Key Features
Eight 10/100BASE-T ports serve a full cabinet of controllers and field devices before any expansion module is added.
Each of the two uplinks offers a 10/100/1000 copper port and an SFP port, and one of the two is active at a time, so the media is fixed per uplink during cabling.
Up to two IE 3000 expansion modules add ports. Two IEM-3000-8TM= copper modules take the switch to 24 Fast Ethernet ports, and fiber, SFP and PoE modules are also available.
Application Scenarios
In a control cabinet serving several machines, the switch connects eight controllers, drives, HMIs or gateways on its 10/100 ports without an expansion module.
On a plant network that segments operational traffic with VLANs, the switch acts as the access layer and sends traffic to the distribution switch over its Gigabit uplinks.
Where a cabinet sits far from the aggregation point, an SFP uplink carries fiber back to the plant core, while a short run can stay on Gigabit copper.

IE-3000-8TC and IE-3000-4TC use the same chassis, uplinks and LAN Base image, but IE-3000-8TC has eight 10/100 access ports against four, so it covers a cabinet of eight drops without an expansion module. With expansion modules IE-3000-8TC reaches 16 Fast Ethernet ports using one IEM-3000-8TM= and 24 using two. Sites that need the Layer 3 IP Services image order IE-3000-8TC-E, since the image is fixed by PID. IE-2000-8TC-G-B also has eight ports and two dual-purpose uplinks but takes no expansion modules, accepts 9.6-60 VDC against 18-60 VDC here, and is 3.6 in wide. Cabinets with only four drops can use IE-3000-4TC.
Ordering Checklist
- Expansion modules: Choose up to two of IEM-3000-8TM=, IEM-3000-8FM=, IEM-3000-4SM=, IEM-3000-8SM=, IEM-3000-4PC= or IEM-3000-4PC-4TC=. Two IEM-3000-8SM= together are not supported because of power limits, and a module cannot run on its own.
- PoE module power: Provide an external 44-57 VDC (PoE) or 50-57 VDC (PoE+) source such as PWR-IE65W-PC-DC= or PWR-IE65W-PC-AC=. IEM-3000-4PC= and IEM-3000-4PC-4TC= do not take PoE power from the switch.
- AC power module: Order PWR-IE50W-AC= (screw terminal) or PWR-IE50W-AC-IEC= (IEC plug), 24 VDC output. The switch itself takes 18-60 VDC, so an AC site needs a power module.
- AC power cord: Add a cord with the local plug and a C13 connector for PWR-IE50W-AC-IEC=. The module is supplied without a power cord.
- Rack mounting: Add STK-RACKMNT-2955= to convert the DIN rail mount for a 19 in rack. Without the kit the switch mounts only on DIN rail or wall.
