IE-9320-26S2C-E Description
The IE-9320-26S2C-E is a Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series stackable industrial switch for fiber aggregation in substation and roadside cabinets. The fanless 1RU rack-mount switch has 22 Gigabit SFP downlinks, 2 dual-media downlinks and 4 Gigabit SFP uplinks, and it operates from -40°C to +75°C in a forced-air cabinet. The switch has no PoE, and BGP, EIGRP, VRF-lite and TrustSec need Network Advantage rather than the Network Essentials license it carries.

Key Features
Static routing, OSPF with 1,000 routes, OSPFv3, RIP and policy-based routing all come with the base license. A fiber aggregation node can run a routed design on day one, and BGP, EIGRP and VRF-lite wait for Network Advantage.
This 26S2C model supports HSR, PRP and PTP over PRP at the Essentials tier. Protection and control traffic rides duplicated LANs with zero recovery time.
Two StackWise ports join up to four chassis. MRP over Stacking then lets a media redundancy ring enter and leave on different stack members, so the aggregation point itself survives a chassis failure.
Two field-replaceable, electrically isolated power slots take 150W, 250W or 400W AC/DC modules, or a 150W low-voltage DC module for 18-75V feeds. The switch has no PoE, so the second module adds supply redundancy only.
The fanless chassis runs from -40°C to +75°C in a forced-air cabinet and to +60°C in a sealed one. Class I Division 2 and Zone 2 listings cover installation in hazardous-location cabinets.
IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613 and the IEC 61850-9-3 Power Utility Profile cover substations. NEMA TS2 covers roadside cabinets, and EN 50121-4 and AREMA 2019 cover trackside installations.
Application Scenarios
In a substation control house, the switch serves as the PRP connection point for protection relays and merging units, using HSR and PRP for duplicated lossless LANs and IEC 61850-9-3 Power Utility Profile timing.
A city collecting traffic-signal and camera cabinets over single-mode fiber can run OSPF and REP rings on the switch, then add stack members as more cabinets come online.
Water and energy sites with hazardous-location cabinets can concentrate SCADA and GOOSE traffic on the switch, which has dual isolated power modules and rated operation to +75°C in a forced-air cabinet.

IE-9320-26S2C-E and IE-9310-26S2C-E share the same 22 SFP and 2 combo downlinks, 4 SFP uplinks and Network Essentials license, but IE-9320-26S2C-E adds Cisco StackWise with up to 4 members and MRP over Stacking, while IE-9310-26S2C-E is not stackable. A fiber site that will outgrow 28 ports, or needs a media redundancy ring that survives a chassis failure, stays on IE-9320-26S2C-E; a permanently single-chassis site can take IE-9310-26S2C-E, which draws 61W against 64W. When day-one BGP, EIGRP, VRF-lite, TrustSec or MACsec-256 is needed, order IE-9320-26S2C-A, which carries the same stackable hardware with Network Advantage; an installed IE-9320-26S2C-E can move to it later with the perpetual IE9300-NW-A= upgrade license.
Ordering Checklist
- Power modules: Choose per slot from PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H (150W, 18-75V DC), PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H (150W), PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250 or PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400, matched to the cabinet feed. The power modules are separate PIDs, and on this non-PoE model the second module provides supply redundancy.
- Catalyst Center license: Add an optional IE9300-DNA-E term (3, 5 or 7 years) if Catalyst Center manages the switch. The license is a separate add-on, and the Advantage variant IE9300-DNA-A pairs only with Network Advantage switches.
- Industrial SFPs: Order industrial-grade optics such as GLC-SX-MM-RGD or -I grade GLC-BX, and keep GLC-TE, GLC-T and GLC-T-RGD off the order. Copper SFPs degrade PTP accuracy and are not supported on the two dual-media combo ports; non-industrial SFPs need temperature derating.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB= (16 GB) for SwapDrive configuration restore. The SD card is optional and is not in the chassis order by default.
- Rack kit: Select RM-RGD-19IN=, RM-RGD-23IN= (NEBS) or RM-RGD-ETSI= to match the rack standard. The rack mounting kits are separate PIDs for each standard.
- Stack cables: Add CAB-STK-0.5M= or CAB-STK-1M= for each member added to the stack, up to 4 members. StackWise and MRP over Stacking run only over these dedicated stack cables.
