IE-9310-26S2C-E Description
The IE-9310-26S2C-E is a Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series industrial Ethernet switch for rack-mounted fiber aggregation in utility and transport cabinets. The switch has 22 100/1000M SFP downlinks, two dual-media downlinks that take SFP or RJ45, and four 1000M SFP uplinks, with an operating range of -40°C to 75°C in a blower-equipped cabinet. The chassis does not stack and has no PoE, and HSR and PRP are not available on this model.

Product Performance
Key Features
Twenty-two 100/1000M SFP ports make up most of the downlink side. Fiber runs to remote cabinets terminate directly, with the optic chosen per link.
Two downlink ports accept either an SFP or an RJ45 connection. A local copper device and a fiber link can use the same positions as the site requires.
The four uplinks run at 1000M on SFP optics, backed by 41.66 Mpps of forwarding rate and 56 Gbps of switching bandwidth. The uplink speed suits aggregation points whose upstream links stay at Gigabit.
REP, REP Fast, MRP and Fast MRP rings are available. HSR and PRP are limited to other IE9300 models, so this switch fits Layer 2 ring designs rather than duplicate-path ones.
The fanless chassis operates from -40°C to 75°C in a blower-equipped cabinet, 70°C in a vented cabinet and 60°C in a sealed cabinet. Non-industrial SFPs require derating.
System power consumption is 61W, and the two field-replaceable power slots accept AC, high-voltage DC or low-voltage DC modules. A second module gives an A/B feed.
Application Scenarios
In a substation control building, the switch collects fiber links from protection relays and bay controllers and passes them upstream over its 1000M SFP uplinks.
Along a railway or metro line, the switch joins a REP or MRP ring between wayside cabinets and carries signaling and CCTV traffic back to the control center.
At a water treatment plant, the switch connects fiber runs from remote pump stations and local RJ45 devices through its dual-media ports.

IE-9310-26S2C-E and IE-9310-26S2C-A are the same non-stackable GE fiber chassis, with 22 SFP and 2 dual-media downlinks and 4 GE SFP uplinks, so the only difference is the license, Network Essentials versus Network Advantage. Sites that need Advantage routing and security order IE-9310-26S2C-A, or add the perpetual IE9300-NW-A= to an Essentials unit later. Stacking at the same 41.66 Mpps and 4 GE uplinks means IE-9320-26S2C-E. Ten-gig SFP+ uplinks at 95.23 Mpps, or GNSS and IRIG-B timing with conformal coating, mean IE-9320-22S2C4X-E, which also stacks. None of these four models provides PoE.
Ordering Checklist
- Power modules: Order PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H (150W), PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250 (250W) or PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 (400W) for 85-264V AC or 88-300V DC, or PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H (150W) for 18-75V DC; the switch has two module slots. The module must match the site feed, AC or DC, and a second module gives a redundant feed.
- Optics: Select industrial-grade SFP such as GLC-SX/LX/ZX-RGD or GLC-BX-I types; no GLC-TE, GLC-T or GLC-T-RGD in the two dual-media ports. Non-industrial SFPs need derating, and copper SFPs degrade PTP and are unsupported in the dual-media ports.
- Software license: Network Essentials is the default; add IE9300-NW-A= for Network Advantage, and an IE9300-DNA-E term (3Y, 5Y or 7Y) only if Catalyst Center is used. The Advantage upgrade is a separate perpetual PID.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB= (16GB). The optional card holds configuration backup for switch replacement.
- Rack kit: Order RM-RGD-19IN= (19-inch), RM-RGD-23IN= (23-inch NEBS) or RM-RGD-ETSI= (ETSI) to match the rack standard.
