IE-9320-24T4X-E Description
The IE-9320-24T4X-E is a Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series industrial switch for control rooms and equipment shelters whose devices carry their own power. The switch has 24 Gigabit RJ45 copper ports without PoE, four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks and 95.23 Mpps of forwarding, draws 35W from power modules that take 18-75V DC or 85-264V AC input, and runs from -40°C to 75°C in a forced-air cabinet as a 1RU rack-mount unit. The switch has no PoE budget, and HSR and PRP are not supported.

Key Features
Twenty-four Gigabit RJ45 ports carry data without PoE circuitry, so cabinets full of locally powered gear use the chassis for ports alone. The 35W draw is the lowest in the IE9320 line.
The rated MTBF is the highest in the IE9300 range, ahead of the PoE models at 489,710 hours. That gives a lower expected failure rate for sites where service visits are costly.
Four SFP+ uplinks run 1G or 10G optics, so a shelter can start on Gigabit backhaul and move to 10G without replacing the switch.
Two StackWise ports join up to four chassis into one managed unit, giving 112 ports under a single configuration. MRP over Stacking extends ring redundancy across the members.
OSPF with 1,000 routes, RIP and policy-based routing come with Network Essentials, alongside PROFINET, EtherNet/IP (CIP), GOOSE and SCADA classification, Modbus TCP and IOx.
IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613, NEMA TS2:2021 and EN 50121-4 cover substations, roadside cabinets and railways. Two isolated power modules and a -40°C to 75°C range in a forced-air cabinet suit unconditioned rooms.
Application Scenarios
In a substation control house or plant server room, the switch terminates relays, RTUs, workstations and historians that all draw local power over its 24 copper ports.
An ITS hub site built to NEMA TS2 can use the switch to connect locally powered field processors, with the 10G-capable SFP+ uplinks leading back to the traffic management center.
At a depot, signal house or tunnel that needs EN 50121-4 railway EMC compliance, the switch connects fixed equipment over copper, and stacking adds ports as the electronics grow.

IE-9320-24T4X-E and IE-9320-24P4X-E share 24 copper ports and four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks, but IE-9320-24T4X-E has no PoE, draws 35W and has a 651,580-hour MTBF, while IE-9320-24P4X-E adds a PoE+ budget up to 720W at 39W and 489,710 hours. One powered camera or access point on the rack means IE-9320-24P4X-E. Sites that need fiber downlinks, GNSS/IRIG-B timing or conformal coating should order IE-9320-22S2C4X-E, which has 22 SFP downlinks plus 2 combo ports and draws 73W. HSR/PRP is not supported on IE-9320-24T4X-E, so seamless redundancy also points to IE-9320-22S2C4X-E.
Ordering Checklist
- Power modules: Select PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H (24-60V DC feed) or PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H / -250 / -400 (85-264V AC or 88-300V DC), up to two per switch. The module must match the site feed; the 150W, 250W and 400W choices only matter for PoE models.
- License tier: Network Essentials is the default on this -E PID; Network Advantage is the perpetual upgrade IE9300-NW-A=. Catalyst Center term licenses are IE9300-DNA-E, 3, 5 or 7 years, and optional. BGP, EIGRP, TrustSec and MACsec-256 are Advantage features, so match the license line to the design.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB= if the switch needs a configuration backup for replacement. The 16 GB SD card is optional and is not added unless ordered.
- Stack cables: Add CAB-STK-0.5M= or CAB-STK-1M= for each added member, up to 4 members. Stack members need these cables, which are ordered as separate parts.
- Industrial optics: Order SFP-10G-SR-I, SFP-10G-LR-X or other -I/-RGD optics for the 4 SFP+ uplinks. Non-industrial SFPs need temperature derating.
