IE-9320-24P4X-E Description
The IE-9320-24P4X-E is a Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series industrial switch for rack-mounted PoE+ cabinets where cameras and access points aggregate onto 10G fiber. The switch has 24 Gigabit PoE+ copper ports, four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks and a PoE budget of 70W to 720W set by its two power modules, which take 18-75V DC or 85-264V AC input, in a 1RU chassis rated -40°C to 75°C in a forced-air cabinet. The 720W budget needs dual 400W modules, and 150W or 250W modules cannot load-share with a 400W module.

Product Performance
Key Features
Two 400W modules give a 720W pool, which covers 24 ports at 30W each. This is the highest PoE budget among the 24-port IE9320 models.
Four SFP+ slots run 1G or 10G optics, so a closet can start on Gigabit fiber and move to 10G later by changing the modules. The 95.23 Mpps forwarding rate keeps dense camera traffic from queuing at the uplinks.
Single and mixed 150W, 250W and 400W combinations give budgets from 70W to 370W below the dual-400W maximum. 150W and 250W modules cannot load-share with a 400W module.
Perpetual PoE keeps endpoints powered while the switch reloads, and Fast PoE re-energizes ports before IOS XE finishes booting. Surveillance and safety devices skip the blackout.
Network Essentials includes OSPF with 1,000 routes, OSPFv3, RIP and policy-based routing, with REP and MRP rings across stacked members. The perpetual IE9300-NW-A= upgrade adds BGP, VRF-lite and TrustSec.
Two field-replaceable modules with electrically isolated outputs cover 18-75V DC plants and 85-264V AC or 88-300V DC feeds, which allows separate A and B sources in a 1RU chassis.
Application Scenarios
At a yard, terminal or perimeter, the switch powers walls of PTZ cameras from its PoE+ ports and sends the combined video onto 10G SFP+ uplinks toward the recording servers.
Across a large production or logistics hall, the switch feeds Wi-Fi access points, location beacons and connected tools, and stacked chassis extend the powered port count as radios are added.
A major ITS junction built to NEMA TS2 can place the switch where cameras, signal controllers and roadside units concentrate and the corridor backbone already runs on 10G fiber.

IE-9320-24P4X-E and IE-9320-24P4S-E both feed 24 PoE+ copper ports, but IE-9320-24P4X-E adds four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks and 95.23 Mpps and reaches 720W with dual 400W modules, against four 1G SFP uplinks, 41.66 Mpps and 480W on IE-9320-24P4S-E. Closets with Gigabit backhaul and no more than 480W of powered devices can drop to IE-9320-24P4S-E. Racks with no PoE endpoints fit IE-9320-24T4X-E, which keeps the same uplinks and 95.23 Mpps at 35W. HSR/PRP is not supported on IE-9320-24P4X-E; it needs IE-9320-26S2C-E, and GNSS/IRIG-B timing needs IE-9320-22S2C4X-E.

Ordering Checklist
- Power modules: Order two PWR-RGD-AC-DC-400 modules for the 720W budget; the other options are PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H and PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H (150W) and PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250 (250W), and 150W/250W cannot load-share with 400W. The PoE budget is 320W with one 400W and 720W only with dual 400W.
- License tier: Network Essentials is the default on this -E PID; Network Advantage is the perpetual upgrade IE9300-NW-A=. Catalyst Center term licenses are IE9300-DNA-E, 3, 5 or 7 years, and optional. BGP, EIGRP, TrustSec and MACsec-256 are Advantage features, so match the license line to the design.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB= if the switch needs a configuration backup for replacement. The 16 GB SD card is optional and is not added unless ordered.
- Stack cables: Add CAB-STK-0.5M= or CAB-STK-1M= for each added member, up to 4 members. Stack members need these cables, which are ordered as separate parts.
- Industrial optics: Order SFP-10G-SR-I, SFP-10G-LR-X or other -I/-RGD optics for the 4 SFP+ uplinks; GLC-T, GLC-TE and GLC-T-RGD are not recommended. Non-industrial SFPs need temperature derating.
