IE-3300-8T2X-E Description
The IE-3300-8T2X-E is a Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series industrial switch for DIN-rail cabinets that need 10G uplinks to the plant backbone. The switch runs Network Essentials on eight Gigabit copper ports without PoE, adds two 1G/10G SFP+ uplinks and takes dual DC inputs from 9.6 to 60VDC, and it operates from -40°C to +70°C in a vented enclosure. Network Essentials stops at static and inter-VLAN routing, PTP runs in Default Profile only, and L2NAT is not available on the SFP+ uplink ports.

Key Features
Two SFP+ slots run at 1G or 10G, so a cabinet of eight Gigabit machine ports reaches the backbone without an oversubscribed uplink.
The perpetual Network Essentials license includes Layer 2 switching, IGMP snooping, MACsec-128 and static routing. The perpetual IE3300-NW-A= license upgrades an installed unit to Network Advantage for dynamic routing, VRF-lite and MACsec-256.
REP, Fast REP with zero-touch provisioning and PROFINET-MRP are part of Network Essentials, so resilient rings between cabinets need no extra license.
1:1 Layer 2 NAT lets machines with duplicate internal addressing share one plant network. The translation applies to the copper ports and is not supported on the SFP+ uplinks.
IEEE 1588 PTPv2 runs in Default Profile only. Power Profile (IEEE C37.238) is available on the Gigabit-uplink IE3300 bases.
A single IEM-3300 module takes the system up to 24 Gigabit ports plus the two 10G ports. This non-PoE base accepts the five non-PoE modules; the PoE modules work only on PoE bases.
Application Scenarios
In a factory backbone ring, the switch joins a REP or MRP ring between cabinets and passes ring traffic at 10G over its SFP+ uplinks while the eight copper ports serve the local machine group.
A PROFINET production cell can use the switch to collect controllers and I/O at Layer 2, then hand the cell traffic to a routed distribution layer over the SFP+ uplinks.
OEM machines built with identical internal IP plans connect to the plant network through the switch, which applies 1:1 L2NAT on the copper ports so no machine needs re-addressing.

IE-3300-8T2X-E and IE-3300-8U2X-E share the same two 1G/10G SFP+ uplinks and Network Essentials license, but IE-3300-8U2X-E adds 802.3bt Type 3 PoE on its eight copper ports with up to 480W including a module, at 42W of its own draw against 28W, so a cabinet that powers cameras or access points needs it. A cabinet that must run OSPF, BGP, VRF-lite, PIM multicast or MACsec-256 needs IE-3300-8T2X-A, or the perpetual IE3300-NW-A= license added in place to an installed IE-3300-8T2X-E. Designs that require IEEE C37.238 Power Profile timing cannot use this model, because 10G-uplink bases run PTP in Default Profile only, and belong on a GE-uplink base such as IE-3300-8T2S-E.
Ordering Checklist
- Power supply: Add a standalone DIN rail supply PID, such as PWR-IE50W-AC= or PWR-IE50W-AC-IEC= in the 50W non-PoE class. PWR-IE50W-AC-L= lacks hazardous-location certification and fails a Class I Div 2 site; IE power supplies are separate PIDs.
- Expansion module: Order one IEM-3300 module per base; this non-PoE base takes IEM-3300-8T=, IEM-3300-8S=, IEM-3300-16T=, IEM-3300-6T2S= or IEM-3300-14T2S=. IEM-3300-8P=, IEM-3300-16P= and IEM-3300-4MU= are PoE modules that work only on PoE base switches.
- Uplink optics: Select industrial-grade SFP+ for the 10G ports; SFP-10G-ZR-I= still derates the switch by 6°C. COM and EXT grade SFPs force a temperature derating of the whole switch.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB= when SwapDrive replacement is planned. The card is optional and is not shipped by default.
- Catalyst Center license: Add IE3300-DNA-E or a term such as IE3300-DNA-E-3Y, only if Catalyst Center manages the switch. The license is an optional add-on and is not included with the hardware.
- Rack mounting: Add STK-RACK-DINRAIL= when the switch goes into a 19-inch rack. The switch itself mounts on a DIN rail only.
