IE-3300-8T2S-A Description
The IE-3300-8T2S-A is a Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series industrial switch for fanless DIN-rail cabinets on factory floors and in utility yards. The switch has eight Gigabit copper ports and two 100/1000 SFP uplinks with no PoE, runs from dual 9.6 to 60VDC inputs at 23W, and operates from -40°C to +70°C. The Network Advantage license adds OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VRF-lite and MACsec-256, and the single IEM-3300 bay accepts only non-PoE expansion modules.

Key Features
One IEM-3300 slot takes the base 10 ports to as many as 26 Gigabit ports with copper or fiber modules, so a growing cell does not need a second switch.
OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, policy-based routing and VRF-lite come with the perpetual license, which lets the switch route machine-edge segments itself.
The Advantage tier encrypts switch-to-switch links with 256-bit MACsec across exposed cable paths, where Network Essentials stops at 128-bit.
IEEE 1588 PTPv2 runs in the Default and Power Profile on this base, which the 10G-uplink IE3300 switches cannot do.
Two DC inputs cover 9.6 to 60VDC at 23W. With the largest non-PoE module fitted the total is 42W, inside a 50W DIN-rail supply.
IEEE 1613 and IEC 61850-3 substation, EN50121/EN50155 rail, NEMA TS 2, DNV marine and Class I Div 2 approvals apply to the same hardware.
Application Scenarios
Above the machine-level switches on a production floor, the switch terminates cell VLANs into VRF-lite segments and routes them toward the plant core over the two SFP uplinks.
In a substation yard or control house, the switch meets IEC 61850-3 and distributes IEEE 1588 PTPv2 Power Profile timing alongside relay and RTU traffic.
At an oil and gas or water-treatment site a fiber run away from the control room, industrial SFP optics carry the backhaul while the eight copper ports connect local instruments.

IE-3300-8T2S-A and IE-3300-8P2S-A share the same 8 copper ports and 2 SFP uplinks, but IE-3300-8T2S-A is data only, so any cabinet that powers cameras or access points needs IE-3300-8P2S-A with its 240W budget, 360W with a PoE expansion module. Uplink speed is fixed by the base: backhaul at 10G moves the order to IE-3300-8T2X-A, whose 2 SFP+ uplinks run at 1G or 10G. That move gives up PTP Power Profile, because the 10G-uplink bases support only the Default Profile, so designs that need IEEE C37.238 timing stay on IE-3300-8T2S-A. A pure Layer 2 ring member can start on IE-3300-8T2S-E and be upgraded to Network Advantage later with the perpetual IE3300-NW-A= license.
Ordering Checklist
- Power supply: Order PWR-IE50W-AC=, PWR-IE50W-AC-IEC= or PWR-IE50W-AC-L= for this non-PoE base, which draws 23W and peaks at 42W with the largest data module. The 50W supplies cover the base and one module; PWR-IE50W-AC-L= is IP20 and not certified for smart grid or hazardous locations.
- Expansion module: Choose one of IEM-3300-8T=, IEM-3300-8S=, IEM-3300-16T=, IEM-3300-6T2S= or IEM-3300-14T2S=. The base is not PoE, so the PoE modules IEM-3300-8P=, IEM-3300-16P= and IEM-3300-4MU= cannot be used with it.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-16GB= (16 GB) for configuration backup and SwapDrive replacement; 4 GB and 16 GB cards are optional. The card is not shipped by default, so SwapDrive has nothing to restore from without it.
- Catalyst Center license: Add IE3300-DNA-A or its -3Y, -5Y and -7Y terms if the switch is managed from Catalyst Center. The license is optional, and Catalyst Center Advantage requires a Network Advantage switch, so -A is the matching tier.
- Industrial SFP optics: Select GLC-SX-MM-RGD, GLC-LX-SM-RGD or GLC-ZX-SM-RGD for 1G and the GLC-FE-100 series for 100M. Commercial or extended-grade SFPs make the switch derate its operating temperature range.
