IE-4010-4S24P Description
The IE-4010-4S24P is a Cisco Industrial Ethernet 4010 Series rugged managed switch for industrial cabinets where most endpoints connect over powered copper. The switch has 24 10/100/1000 PoE/PoE+ copper ports and 4 SFP uplinks, 56 Gbps of switching bandwidth, a 70 W maximum draw without PoE, and runs LAN Base from -40 to +75 C (+70 C in a vented enclosure with 40 LFM airflow, +60 C in a sealed enclosure). One 250 W supply gives a 180 W PoE budget, and the full 385 W needs two 250 W supplies.

Key Features
All 24 copper ports support PoE and PoE+ at up to 30 W each. No ports are given over to SFP access, so every downlink is RJ-45.
Budgets run from 80 W on one 150 W supply to 200 W on two, 180 W on one 250 W supply, 285 W on a mixed pair and 385 W on two 250 W supplies. That is about 16 W per port with every port loaded.
Four 100/1000M SFP slots carry traffic upstream. Rugged -RGD SFPs fit the temperature range of the switch.
Two field-replaceable power slots take AC, high-voltage DC or low-voltage DC modules in supported combinations. Only the -H supplies carry hazardous-location certification.
LAN Base provides REP, PRP, HSR and MRP rings, IEEE 1588 PTP v2, CIP EtherNet/IP, PROFINET v2 and MODBUS. Layer 2 switching and 1:1 static NAT are included.
A 1 GB SD card is included in the switch and holds a configuration backup. The card is hot-swappable outside hazardous locations, and restoring a replacement switch from it depends on recovery conditions in the Cisco configuration guide rather than restoring every setting automatically.
Application Scenarios
A traffic management cabinet can power a cluster of IP cameras and roadside sensors directly from the 24 PoE/PoE+ copper ports. The 4 SFP uplinks connect the cabinet to the roadside fiber ring.
A wayside room on a rail line can feed signaling gateways, cameras and access points from one switch and use REP or PRP rings for redundancy. Two power slots allow the room’s DC supply to feed the switch directly.
A pump station control cabinet can connect PLCs, HMIs and PoE instruments over copper and pass the traffic upstream by fiber. The -40 to +60 C sealed-enclosure rating and the +70 C vented-enclosure rating (40 LFM airflow) cover most unconditioned cabinets.

More than 12 powered copper endpoints call for IE-4010-4S24P, which reaches a 385W PoE budget with two 250W supplies against 360W on IE-4010-16S12P, and 12 fiber access links to field devices move the order to IE-4010-16S12P. Ordering Checklist
- Power supply: Order PWR-RGD-AC-DC-H or PWR-RGD-LOW-DC-H (150W), or PWR-RGD-AC-DC-250 (250W), matched to the site AC or DC feed. The supply mix sets the PoE budget: 80W with one 150W supply, 180W with one 250W supply, 385W with two 250W supplies.
- IP Services license: Order L-IE4000-RTU= to move from the default LAN Base to IP Services. LAN Base has no OSPF, EIGRP or BGP routing, and the upgrade is a separate order line.
- Industrial SFP optics: Select rugged SFPs such as GLC-SX-MM-RGD=, GLC-LX-SM-RGD= or GLC-FE-100FX-RGD= from the IE 4010 support table. These are industrial-temperature (RGD) SFPs, and only SFPs in that table are supported.
- Spare SD card: Add SD-IE-1GB= if a spare is wanted; a 1 GB SD card is included with the switch. The card holds the configuration backup used when a switch is replaced, and a spare avoids a gap when the card is swapped.
- Rack brackets: Add 21-inch or 23-inch ETSI rack brackets, listed as accessories, if the rack is not 19-inch. Racks of those widths need the matching bracket, ordered separately.
