The FPR4215-NGFW-K9 is a Cisco Secure Firewall 4200 Series 1RU Threat Defense appliance for data center and high-throughput network edge deployments. It delivers 65 Gbps of FW + AVC + IPS throughput, 15 million concurrent sessions with AVC and 45 Gbps of IPsec VPN throughput, with eight 1/10/25G SFP28 data ports, two network module slots and 256 GB of memory. Threat Defense on this platform is managed from Firewall Management Center or Cisco Defense Orchestrator, not device manager.

FW + AVC, FW + AVC + IPS and NGIPS all run at 65 Gbps on the 4215 Threat Defense row, which is the figure to size inspected traffic against.
The appliance holds 15 million concurrent sessions with AVC and sets up 350K new connections per second with AVC, below the 4225 NGFW appliance with 30 million sessions.
IPsec VPN throughput is 45 Gbps with 20000 VPN peers, enough headroom for a large remote-access or site-to-site tunnel population on one chassis.
Eight 1/10/25G SFP28 data ports and two SFP28 management ports are fixed. Two hot-swappable slots take 1G to 400G and fail-to-wire network modules.
The 4215 was introduced for Threat Defense 7.4.0 and must be managed from Firewall Management Center rather than device manager. Cisco Defense Orchestrator is the cloud-delivered alternative.
One 1900W AC module is the default, and a second module adds power redundancy. 256 GB of memory and two 1.8 TB SSDs in RAID1 are standard.

Designs that require ASA behavior or ASDM-based management order FPR4215-ASA-K9 instead. On the Threat Defense side, FPR4215-NGFW-K9 gives 65 Gbps of FW + AVC + IPS throughput, 15 million sessions with AVC and 45 Gbps of IPsec VPN.
