FPR1150-ASA-K9 Description
The FPR1150-ASA-K9 is a Cisco Firepower 1000 Series 1RU firewall appliance running ASA software for branch and internet-edge sites that need 10G uplinks. The appliance has eight RJ-45, two SFP and two SFP+ fixed ports, 7.5 Gbps of stateful inspection firewall throughput, 600000 concurrent firewall connections and up to 800 VPN peers. The appliance includes two security contexts out of a 25-context maximum and has a single fixed AC supply with no redundant option.

Key Features
Stateful inspection firewall throughput is 7.5 Gbps on 1500B UDP traffic, falling to 4.5 Gbps for the multiprotocol TCP mix. The multiprotocol figure is the more realistic one for mixed application traffic.
Two SFP+ ports sit beside two SFP and eight RJ-45 ports, so 10G uplinks need no module. Cisco publishes a separate supported list for the SFP+ ports covering 10G SFP, DAC and AOC options.
Two security contexts are included and up to 25 are supported, which suits a design that splits one firewall across several tenants. Contexts beyond the included two need add-on licenses.
Application Scenarios
A branch that connects to a provider or aggregation switch over 10G fiber can use the fixed SFP+ ports for the uplink while the eight RJ-45 ports serve the local network.
A site that terminates employee remote-access and site-to-site tunnels can use the appliance’s 1.7 Gbps of IPsec VPN throughput and support for up to 800 VPN peers.
A shared network that separates tenants or departments can divide the appliance into security contexts, with two included and a maximum of 25.

FPR1150-ASA-K9 and FPR1150-NGFW-K9 share the 1150 chassis with eight RJ-45, two SFP and two SFP+ ports, but FPR1150-ASA-K9 runs ASA software while FPR1150-NGFW-K9 runs Firewall Threat Defense software with optional subscriptions, so the software choice fixes the PID. On ASA, FPR1150-ASA-K9 is rated 7.5 Gbps stateful inspection, 600000 concurrent connections, 800 VPN peers and 2 included security contexts with a maximum of 25. Sites that need only 6 Gbps, 400 VPN peers and 5 contexts can use FPR1140-ASA-K9, and 4.5 Gbps with 150 peers fits FPR1120-ASA-K9, but both keep four 1G SFP ports with no SFP+.
Ordering Checklist
- ASA base and encryption licenses: Add L-FPR1000-ASA=, the free ASA Base license, and L-FPR1K-ENC-K9=, the free Strong Encryption (3DES/AES) license, which is unavailable in export-restricted regions. ASA licensing runs through Smart Licensing, and the encryption level follows the Smart Account export setting.
- Security contexts: The Base license includes 2 contexts; add L-FPR1K-ASASC-5= or L-FPR1K-ASASC-10= for paid contexts beyond them. Multi-context designs with more than 2 contexts need the add-on license on the order.
- Rack and cable accessories: Add the FPR1K-RM-BRKT=, FPR1K-CBL-MGMT=, FPR1K-RM-ACY-KIT= and FPR1K-RM-FIPS-KIT= accessory PIDs the install needs for the Firepower 1120, 1140 and 1150 chassis. A rack, cable-management or FIPS accessory left off the order has to be bought as a separate spare.
