FPR1150-ASA-K9 Description

Cisco FPR1150-ASA-K9 (Firepower 1150 ASA, Secure Firewall 1150 ASA) provides 7.5 Gbps stateful inspection and 4.5 Gbps multiprotocol throughput with headroom for 150K new connections/sec and 600K concurrent sessions. It supports 1.7 Gbps IPsec VPN with up to 800 VPN peers, plus ASA VPN load balancing and dual high-availability modes (active/active and active/standby). The 1U appliance integrates 8 x 1G RJ-45, 2 x 1G SFP, and 2 x 10G SFP+ data ports, a 1G management port, RJ-45 console, USB 3.0, and 200-GB storage for logs and upgrades. Manage centrally through Cisco Security Manager or Cisco Defense Orchestrator, with local ASDM for on-box changes.

Key Features

High-capacity ASA firewall for aggregation and campus edges

up to 7.5 Gbps stateful throughput and 4.5 Gbps multiprotocol, sized for heavy east-west and internet traffic while keeping latency predictable.

Streamlined operations with familiar tooling

local ASDM for quick changes, centralized control through Cisco Security Manager or Cisco Defense Orchestrator, aligning FPR1150-ASA-K9 with existing ASA workflows and compliance reporting.

Resilience and multi-tenancy options

Active/active and Active/standby HA for continuity, and ASA multi-context (2 included; up to 25 on FPR-1150) to segment departments, partners, or customers with clean policy separation.

Big bursts, big user counts

supports about 150,000 new connections per second and 600,000 concurrent sessions, helping Cisco Firepower 1150 ASA absorb SaaS surges, large VPN logins, and peak business windows.

VPN hub at scale

around 1.7 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput with up to 800 VPN peers, plus ASA VPN load balancing to distribute tunnels across gateways for resilient remote-access and site-to-site topologies.

10G-ready connectivity in 1U

8 x 1G RJ-45 for access segments, 2 x 1G SFP plus 2 x 10G SFP+ uplinks for core/wan handoff, dedicated 1G management, RJ-45 console, USB 3.0, and 200-GB on-box storage.

Applications Scenarios

Regional/campus Internet edge

high connection-rate ASA inspection with dual HA modes for change windows and failover.

VPN hub for distributed enterprises

terminate many site-to-site tunnels efficiently—1.7 Gbps IPsec, 800 peers, and VPN load balancing.

Segmented shared gateways

use ASA multi-context (2 included; up to 25) for multi-department or MSP tenancy.
