A9K-3KW-AC Description
The A9K-3KW-AC is a Cisco ASR 9000 Series Version 1 3 kW AC power module for ASR 9006 and ASR 9010 chassis. Each module draws 3400 VA of AC input, and a Version 1 AC power tray holds up to three modules, six across an ASR 9010 system. Tray and module versions must match, so the module cannot sit in a Version 2 AC tray such as ASR9K-AC-PEM-V2.

Key Features
The module belongs to the Version 1 power system, so it works only with Version 1 AC trays. Tray and module type and version must match.
A Version 1 AC tray holds up to three modules, against four for Version 2. An ASR 9010 with two trays reaches six modules.
The module takes 200 to 240 V AC input at 3400 VA. AC and DC supplies cannot be mixed in the same ASR 9000 system.
Application Scenarios
In an ASR 9006, the module fills one of up to three bays in the Version 1 AC power tray, and the tray gives the chassis N+1 power redundancy.
An ASR 9010 carries two Version 1 AC trays, so up to six modules, three per tray, feed the chassis in N+N redundancy.

A9K-3KW-AC and PWR-3KW-AC-V2 are both 3 kW AC modules, and the power system version is what separates them: A9K-3KW-AC belongs to Version 1, where a tray holds three modules, while PWR-3KW-AC-V2 belongs to Version 2, where a tray holds four. Tray and module versions must match, so a Version 2 AC tray such as ASR9K-AC-PEM-V2 takes PWR-3KW-AC-V2 and cannot take A9K-3KW-AC. Chassis that run on Version 2 power, including ASR 9904, ASR 9912 and ASR 9922, also call for PWR-3KW-AC-V2. A DC-fed system needs A9K-2KW-DC, a 2 kW module for Version 1 DC trays, because AC and DC supplies cannot be mixed in one ASR 9000 power system.
