The C9200CX-12P-2X2G-A is a Cisco Catalyst 9200CX compact access switch licensed for Network Advantage, built for small sites that need routing, timing and encryption outside a wiring closet. The switch has 12 Gigabit PoE+ ports sharing a 240W budget, two 10G SFP+ and two 1G copper fixed uplinks, and 68 Gbps of switching capacity, all fed by a fixed 315W AC internal supply. On this platform Network Advantage enables basic BGP, IS-IS, VRF segmentation, PTP and MACsec-256, while the fanless chassis runs standalone without stacking.

Key Features
Network Advantage lifts the OSPF ceiling of 1,000 routes and adds EIGRP, IS-IS, HSRP and IP SLA. Basic BGP is available on Catalyst 9200CX switches from Cisco IOS XE 17.13.1, so a branch edge can peer with its upstream router directly.
PTP (IEEE 1588v2) is an Advantage feature on the Catalyst 9200CX platform. It distributes time and frequency with sub-microsecond accuracy to endpoints that depend on a shared clock.
Links can be encrypted with AES-256 MACsec, a strength the Catalyst 9200CX platform reserves for Network Advantage. VRF, VXLAN, LISP and SGT keep separate user groups apart on the same 12 ports.
The 240W budget covers eight ports at the full 30W of 802.3at, or all 12 ports when they average 20W or less. No second supply can be added, so the pool stays at 240W for the life of the switch.
The two 10G SFP+ cages and the two 1G copper uplinks can run at the same time. A site can keep a fiber run to the core and a copper link to a local device without giving up either.
The 1.73 x 10.6 x 9.6 in chassis has no fan and mounts on a magnetic tray, DIN rail, 19-inch rack bracket, wall tray, under-desk bracket or rubber feet. That puts the switch in offices and cabinets where closet space does not exist.
Application Scenarios
A small branch office can run the 10G SFP+ uplink to its provider or SD-WAN router and exchange routes with it over basic BGP, while phones and access points stay on the PoE+ ports.
At a site where connected devices must share one time reference, the switch distributes PTP time and frequency across its ports and powers those devices from the same 240W PoE pool.
In a clinic or shared office suite, VRF segmentation separates tenant, guest and building systems on one switch, and AES-256 MACsec protects the uplink back to the main building.

C9200CX-12P-2X2G-A has 12 PoE+ ports with a 240W budget, while C9200CX-12T-2X2G-A has 12 data-only ports and draws its own power from a Class 6 PD uplink or an optional 80W adapter, which suits a drop with no endpoints to power. C9200CX-12P-2X2G-E is the same hardware on Network Essentials. A site that routes with OSPF up to 1,000 routes and uses no BGP, VRF, PTP or MACsec-256 can drop to it without losing a feature in service. An installed Essentials unit can move up later with C9200CX-12-E-A-3, -5 or -7 under C9200CX-LIC=. Sites fed from high-voltage DC need C9200CX-12P-2XGH-A, which keeps the same ports and 240W PoE on a 315W HVDC/AC supply that accepts 120-418 VDC or 100-277 VAC.

Ordering Checklist
- Subscription tier: Add an Advantage subscription matching the -A suffix, such as C9200CX-DNAA-12-3Y, -5Y or -7Y for Cisco DNA or C9200CX-DNXA-12-3Y, -5Y or -7Y for Cisco Catalyst. Every new order needs a subscription at the same tier as the network license.
- Default term: The configurator adds a 3-year Cisco DNA subscription by default; change the term or switch to a Cisco Catalyst subscription before submitting. A Smart Account is mandatory on the order.
- Power cord: Select the CAB-TA power cord for the destination country, such as CAB-TA-UK= or CAB-TA-EU=. The 315W AC internal supply takes an IEC 320-C14 cord.
- Console cable: Add CAB-CON-USBRJ45 if the site uses an RJ-45 console connection. The console port is USB micro-B, and Cisco does not supply a micro-B console cable.
