C1300-24MGP-4X Description
The C1300-24MGP-4X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series fixed managed Layer 3 multigigabit PoE+ switch for branch offices that power phones and Wi-Fi access points from one chassis. The switch has 16 Gigabit and 8 x 2.5G PoE+ ports with a 375W PoE budget, 4 x 10G SFP+ uplinks, 152 Gbps of switching capacity and one fan rated below 39 dBA. Dynamic routing is limited to RIP v2, because OSPF runs only on C1300X models.

Product Performance
Key Features
Sixteen 10/100/1000 ports and eight 2.5G ports each supply up to 30W PoE+. Phones and cameras can sit on the Gigabit ports while the 2.5G ports serve endpoints that negotiate faster copper.
Stack ports are configured from the four 10G SFP+ ports and carry no user traffic afterward. Up to 8 Family 1 units run under one IP address with hardware failover and cross-stack link aggregation.
IPv4 and IPv6 route at wire speed, with RIP v2, policy-based routing and a built-in DHCP server. A small site can route between VLANs and serve addresses without a separate router.
Worst-case draw with PoE fully loaded is 459W at 110V and 443.6W at 220V, against 46.3W and 46.1W with no PoE load. Circuits, UPS capacity and cooling should be sized to the loaded figure, which dissipates 1565.19 BTU/hr.
The single fan is rated below 39 dBA at 25°C, a level that suits open-plan offices and classrooms outside the wiring closet.
Voice VLAN with Voice Services Discovery Protocol places phones in a voice VLAN with QoS treatment. Auto Smartports applies port roles from CDP or LLDP-MED discovery, which cuts per-port configuration in a phone rollout.
Application Scenarios
In a branch office, the switch powers IP phones and desktop endpoints from its Gigabit PoE+ ports, with the 10G SFP+ uplinks carrying traffic back to the site core.
In an open-plan office or classroom outside a formal wiring closet, the switch powers wireless access points from its eight 2.5G PoE+ ports, which suit access points with multigigabit uplinks.
A retail store can run IP cameras and other PoE endpoints from any of the 24 PoE+ ports, with the 375W budget shared across them.

C1300-24MGP-4X and C1300-24FP-4X share 24 PoE+ ports, a 375W budget and 4 x 10G SFP+ uplinks, and the copper layout separates them: 16 ports at 10/100/1000 plus 8 at 2.5G with 152 Gbps, against 24 ports at 10/100/1000 with 128 Gbps. Closets with no endpoint above 1G can order C1300-24FP-4X. When more than 8 endpoints need 2.5G, or the PoE load passes 375W, C1300-48MGP-4X gives 16 ports at 2.5G, 740W and a 3 MB buffer. C1300X-24MU-4X runs all 24 ports at 2.5G with 8 at 60W PoE++ and 740W, but it stacks only in the C1300X Family, not with C1300-24MGP-4X.
PoE Power Planning
|
Planning Item |
Value or Check |
|---|---|
|
Default PoE budget |
375W of power dedicated to PoE, shared across all 24 PoE-capable ports |
|
Per-port PoE class |
30W PoE+ on each 10/100/1000 port and each 2.5G port |
|
PoE standards |
802.3at PoE+, 802.3af PoE, and Cisco pre-standard (legacy) PoE |
|
Full-class port count |
At 30W per port, 12 ports draw 360W; a 13th port at full class would reach 390W, above the 375W budget |
|
Endpoint load check |
Add up the rated draw of every phone, access point, and camera and compare the total with 375W rather than with the 24-port count |
|
Schedule and reboot behavior |
Time-based PoE switches power on or off on a user-defined schedule, and persistent PoE keeps power on while the switch reboots |
Ordering Checklist
- SFP+ uplink modules: Choose modules or cables from the Catalyst 1300 supported list, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR, SFP-10G-T-X or SFP-10G-AOC1M, matched to each link’s reach and media for the 4 SFP+ slots.
- Stack links: Use 10G SFP+ ports as stack ports, preferably with direct attach copper such as SFP-H10GB-CU1M; only C1300 Family 1 models stack together, up to 8 units. Enable at least 2 stack ports per unit; RJ45 SFP modules and third-party SFPs are not guaranteed.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord, or select NO-POWER-CORD to leave it out.
