C1300-48T-4X Description
The C1300-48T-4X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series managed Layer 3 switch for branch and small-business wiring closets whose 48 wired endpoints need no PoE. The switch pairs 48 Gigabit RJ-45 ports with four 10G SFP+ uplinks, switches 176 Gbps at 130.94 Mpps, and cools with one fan rated 29.7 dBA at 25°C. Hardware stacking joins up to eight C1300 Family 1 switches, and dynamic routing stops at RIP v2 because OSPF runs only on C1300X models.

Key Features
The four SFP+ slots carry 10G uplinks until the switch joins a stack. Stacking turns selected slots into stack ports that carry only traffic between members, and at least two must be enabled. A stacked unit therefore keeps no more than two SFP+ slots for uplinks.
Up to eight C1300 Family 1 switches run as one system with a single IP address and hardware failover. Eight units of this model would bring 416 ports including uplinks, which is more than the 400 ports one stack can manage.
Worst-case draw is 40.01W at 110V, with 136.50 BTU/hr of heat for the closet to remove. A single fan cools the chassis at 29.7 dBA at 25°C.
Application Scenarios
In a branch office, the switch connects up to 48 desktop PCs, printers and docking stations over Gigabit copper and sends their traffic to the site core on a 10G SFP+ uplink.
A small business that fills one closet and adds a second can stack the new C1300 Family 1 switch with the first, and both are then managed through one IP address.
Hotels and office waiting rooms place wired guest ports in a Guest VLAN while staff ports use 802.1X or web authentication. Visitors and employees then share the switch but not a network segment.

C1300-48T-4X and C1300-48P-4X share 48 Gigabit copper ports, four 10G SFP+ uplinks and 176 Gbps of switching, but C1300-48T-4X has no PoE output, while C1300-48P-4X shares 375W across 48 PoE+ ports for phones, cameras or access points. Where the aggregation link runs at 1G, C1300-48T-4G keeps the same 48 copper ports on four 1G SFP uplinks at 104 Gbps, but it cannot join a hardware stack. When the design needs OSPF v2 or v3 rather than RIP v2, C1300X-48T-4X adds it on four SFP28 slots that run 10G uplinks; because it stacks only within the C1300X Family, it cannot join an existing C1300 Family 1 stack.
Ordering Checklist
- Stack members: Order stack partners from C1300 Family 1 only, such as C1300-24T-4X, C1300-48P-4X or C1300-48FP-4X, up to eight units. A C1300X or C1300 Family 2 switch on the same order cannot join the stack.
- Stack links: Add at least two DAC cables or 10G SFP+ modules per stacked unit, such as SFP-H10GB-CU1M; DAC is the preferred stack medium. Third-party and RJ45 SFPs are not assured to work as stack links.
- Uplink optics: Add SFP+ modules or cables from the Catalyst 1300 supported list, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR or SFP-H10GB-CU3M. The switch ships without optics, so an uplink without a module on the order stays dark.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord or select NO-POWER-CORD. A switch ordered with NO-POWER-CORD arrives without a cord and needs one sourced locally.
