C1300-12XT-2X Description
The C1300-12XT-2X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series fixed managed Layer 3 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch for branch offices that connect workstations and servers over 10G copper. The switch has 12 10G copper ports and 2 10G SFP+ ports as separate ports, 280 Gbps of switching capacity and no PoE output. Dynamic routing is RIP v2 with policy-based routing, and hardware stacking of up to 8 units accepts only C1300 Family 2 members.

Product Performance
Key Features
Twelve 10G copper ports connect 10G hosts without SFP+ modules. The 2 SFP+ ports are separate ports rather than combo pairs, so all 14 data ports can be cabled at once, and every port also runs at 1 Gigabit.
Up to 8 units stack into one system under a single IP address with hardware failover. Link aggregation, QoS, VLANs and port mirroring work across members, so capacity grows by adding units rather than replacing the switch.
Wire-speed IPv4 and IPv6 routing with up to 7,168 routes and 256 IP interfaces puts Layer 3 forwarding on the access switch itself. Dynamic routing is RIP v2 with policy-based routing, while OSPF runs only on C1300X models.
802.1X, DHCP snooping and Dynamic ARP Inspection enforce access on the same device, and up to 2048 ACL rules cover ingress and egress policy.
Worst-case draw is 50.3W at 110V and 52W at 220V, with 218.38 BTU/hr of heat and one fan rated at 28.5 dBA at 25°C. These are the figures for UPS sizing and room cooling at a small site.
The embedded Cisco Business Dashboard probe removes the need for a separate probe appliance onsite. Network Plug and Play eases rollout, and a USB Type C console port supports local setup.
Application Scenarios
A branch office cables employee computers, servers and printers at 10G over copper, while the 2 SFP+ ports carry fiber or twinax links toward the next switch.
In an office area with no wiring closet, nearby workstations plug straight into the 12 copper ports, and the 268 mm wide chassis fits on a shelf or desk.
At a site with guest-facing areas such as an office waiting room, the switch applies 802.1X, web authentication and VLAN segmentation to keep guest sessions apart from business traffic.

C1300-12XT-2X and C1300-12XS share the 268 x 300 mm chassis and 3 MB buffer, but C1300-12XT-2X has 12 copper and 2 SFP+ ports at 280 Gbps while C1300-12XS has 10 SFP+ and 2 combo ports at 240 Gbps, so a fiber-led plan with 2 copper links or fewer belongs on C1300-12XS, at 24.3W against 50.3W worst case. A plan with 8 copper and up to 8 fiber links fits C1300-16XTS at 320 Gbps. More than 12 copper links, or a need for an 8 MB buffer, moves to C1300-24XT, which has 480 Gbps in a 444.3 mm chassis at 87.3W. PoE and stack family do not separate the four, since all are data-only C1300 Family 2 models.
Ordering Checklist
- SFP+ modules and cables: Match the 2 SFP+ ports to SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR, SFP-10G-ER or SFP-10G-T-X modules, or to SFP-H10GB-CU1M or SFP-10G-AOC1M cables. A module outside the supported list leaves a 10G link unusable.
- Stack links: Choose at least 2 SFP+ ports per unit as stack ports in a C1300 Family 2 stack, and add SFP-H10GB-CU1M, SFP-H10GB-CU3M or SFP-H10GB-CU5M cables or 10G optics; SFP-10G-T-X RJ45 modules are not recommended for stacking. A link without a cable or optic stays down.
- Rack bracket kit: Add RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K=, the 19-inch bracket for 8-, 12- and 16-port models; only 24- and 48-port models include 19-inch brackets.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord or select NO-POWER-CORD, which ships the order without a cord.
