C1300-16XTS Description
The C1300-16XTS is a Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series fixed managed Layer 3 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch for small offices that run 10G over both copper and fiber. The switch has 8 10G copper ports and 8 10G SFP+ ports that are separate rather than combo pairs, 320 Gbps of switching capacity and no PoE output. Hardware stacking of up to 8 units accepts only C1300 Family 2 members, and OSPF routing is limited to C1300X models.

Key Features
The 8 copper ports and 8 SFP+ ports are separate ports rather than combo pairs, so all 16 data links can be active together. A closet can land 10G copper hosts and fiber, copper coax or active optical runs without giving up one media for the other.
Up to 8 C1300 Family 2 units are managed as one system behind one IP address, with hardware failover covering a failed member. LAG, QoS and VLANs span the members.
802.1X, web-based authentication and DHCP snooping control admission, IP Source Guard and Dynamic ARP Inspection block spoofed traffic, and up to 2048 ACL rules carry segment policy such as separating guest and staff VLANs.
Worst-case draw is 33.36W at 110V and 35.2W at 220V, with 195.86 BTU/hr of heat and 16.4W at idle on 110V. UPS runtime and room cooling for a 16-port 10G unit can be sized from those figures.
The 268 x 300 x 43.94 mm chassis weighs 2.68 kg, runs one fan at 28.7 dBA and operates from -5° to 50°C, which suits installation outside the wiring closet.
The Cisco Business Dashboard probe is embedded, so no probe appliance or virtual machine is needed onsite. A Bluetooth dongle in the USB port opens CLI and GUI access from a laptop or tablet.
Application Scenarios
The switch serves as the single 10G edge unit of a small office: servers and workstations connect to the copper ports, and the SFP+ ports take fiber, copper coax or active optical runs toward the rest of the network.
On a small server shelf, the switch sits beside a storage array and a few hosts, and iSCSI traffic optimization keeps storage flows ahead of other traffic between them.
In a branch office, the switch aggregates 10G uplinks from PoE access switches elsewhere in the building and carries voice and data on one network with voice VLAN assignment and hardware queues for QoS.

C1300-16XTS has 8 copper and 8 SFP+ ports at 320 Gbps with a 3 MB buffer in a 268 mm chassis, while C1300-24XTS has 12 copper and 12 SFP+ ports at 480 Gbps with an 8 MB buffer in a 444.3 mm chassis that includes 19-inch brackets. A plan with more than 8 links on either media, or one that needs 8 MB, moves to C1300-24XTS. More than 8 copper links with 2 fiber links or fewer fits C1300-12XT-2X at 280 Gbps, and up to 12 fiber links with 2 copper links fits C1300-12XS at 240 Gbps. PoE and stack family do not separate the four, since all are data-only C1300 Family 2 models.
Ordering Checklist
- SFP+ modules and cables: Match the 8 SFP+ ports to SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR, SFP-10G-ER or SFP-10G-T-X modules, or to SFP-H10GB-CU1M or SFP-10G-AOC1M cables. A module outside the supported list leaves a 10G link unusable.
- Stack links: Choose at least 2 SFP+ ports per unit as stack ports in a C1300 Family 2 stack, and add SFP-H10GB-CU1M, SFP-H10GB-CU3M or SFP-H10GB-CU5M cables or 10G optics; SFP-10G-T-X RJ45 modules are not recommended for stacking. A link without a cable or optic stays down.
- Rack bracket kit: Add RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K=, the 19-inch bracket for 8-, 12- and 16-port models; only 24- and 48-port models include 19-inch brackets.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord or select NO-POWER-CORD, which ships the order without a cord.
