C1300X-48P-4X Description
The C1300X-48P-4X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300X Series fixed managed Layer 3 PoE+ switch for branch offices and small-business closets that power IP phones, wireless access points and cameras. The switch has 48 10/100/1000 PoE+ ports sharing a 740W budget, four SFP28 slots that run 10G as uplinks, and 176 Gbps of nonblocking switching capacity in a single-fan chassis. OSPF v2 and v3 run on the switch, and hardware stacking joins only C1300X Family units, up to 8 in a stack.

Product Performance
Key Features
All 48 ports are rated 30W PoE+ and share one 740W budget. Phones, access points, and cameras run without local power supplies as long as their combined draw stays within 740W, an average of about 15.4W per port when all 48 are in use.
The four SFP28 slots run at 10G as uplinks and reach 25G only for stacking. Uplink optics are therefore sized at 10G per slot. A stack joins up to 8 C1300X Family units under one IP address with hardware failover, and the whole stack manages up to 400 ports as one system.
OSPF v2 and v3 run on C1300X models, which lets the access tier exchange routes with an upstream router instead of relying on RIP v2 or static entries. The routing table holds up to 7,168 IPv4 routes and 256 IP interfaces, and DHCP server and relay run on the same unit.
Circuit and UPS sizing should start from the PoE-loaded worst case of 881W at 110V and 891.3W at 220V, not from the 102.3W and 111W system draw, and the loaded unit dissipates 3096.18 BTU/hr into the room.
The single fan is rated 48.6 dBA at 25°C. The switch suits a wiring closet or equipment room where that noise level is acceptable, and the room has to stay within the -5° to 50°C operating range.
The Cisco Business Dashboard probe runs on the switch itself. A branch site needs no separate probe appliance or virtual machine. Cisco Network Plug and Play handles provisioning, dual images keep upgrade downtime minimal, and a Bluetooth dongle in the USB port gives a laptop CLI and GUI access.
Application Scenarios
In a branch office or small-business floor, the switch serves the site from one closet or equipment room, powering IP phones, wireless access points, and IP cameras over the same cable that carries their data, with a voice VLAN keeping phone traffic apart from workstation traffic.
In the back office or equipment room of a retail store or school, where a 48.6 dBA fan is acceptable, one chassis supplies PoE to access points and cameras and hands traffic to the rest of the network over 10G uplinks.
In a growing site, the switch forms the access tier as one member of a C1300X Family stack under a single IP address, running OSPF and DHCP on the switch toward the upstream router.

C1300X-48P-4X has a 740W PoE budget, a 3 MB packet buffer, and OSPF v2 and v3 on 48 ports at 30W PoE+, while C1300-48P-4X shares the port layout but has a 375W budget, a 1.5 MB buffer, 4 x 10G SFP+ uplinks, and no OSPF. A powered load above 375W, or an access switch that must peer over OSPF, needs C1300X-48P-4X, and an installed C1300 Family 1 stack cannot take it as a member because stacking across Families is not supported. A closet with up to 24 powered endpoints within 385W fits C1300X-24P-4X in the same C1300X Family. An endpoint that needs 60W PoE++ calls for C1300X-48NGU-4X, which keeps the 740W budget and gives 8 of its ports 60W.
PoE Power Planning

Planning Item |
Value or Check |
|---|---|
|
PoE power budget |
740W, shared across all PoE-capable ports |
|
PoE-capable ports |
48 ports, each rated 30W PoE+ |
|
Budget against port ceiling |
48 ports at 30W would total 1,440W, so add up the real wattage of every phone, access point, and camera planned for the unit and keep the sum within 740W; at the full 30W class, 24 ports draw 720W |
|
PoE standard |
All 48 ports are 30W PoE+ ports; match each endpoint’s power class to that rating. The model sits in the 802.3bt (Type 3) PoE++ and 802.3at PoE+ group, but no port here is rated for 60W |
|
Power supply |
Internal universal supply, 100-240V 50-60 Hz |
|
Schedule control |
Time-based PoE turns PoE power on or off on a user-defined schedule |
|
Reboot behavior |
Persistent PoE provides PoE power while the switch is rebooting, so powered endpoints keep their power through a restart |
Ordering Checklist
- Stacking: Stack only C1300X Family PIDs such as C1300X-24T-4X, C1300X-24P-4X, C1300X-48T-4X and C1300X-48P-4X, up to 8 units, over the SFP28 slots (25G for stacking only), using modules or cables like SFP-25G-AOC1M or SFP-H25G-CU1M sold separately. Stacking across Families is unsupported, so C1300 Family 1 or Family 2 units cannot join.
- Uplink optics: The 4 SFP28 slots run 10G as uplinks. Pick modules or cables from the Catalyst 1300 supported list, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR or SFP-H10GB-CU3M; the list covers the family, not each model, and optics are not included.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord or select NO-POWER-CORD. Selecting NO-POWER-CORD removes the cord from the package, so one must be sourced separately.
