C1300-24XS Description
The C1300-24XS is a Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series fixed managed Layer 3 switch for 10G fiber aggregation in branch offices and small business networks. The switch has 20 SFP+ ports and four copper/SFP+ combo ports, with 480 Gbps of nonblocking switching capacity, a 357.14 Mpps forwarding rate and no PoE. Stacking is limited to C1300 Family 2 models, up to 8 units, and OSPF routing runs only on C1300X models.

Product Performance
Key Features
Twenty fixed SFP+ ports carry fiber or twinax links without adapters. The four combo ports add copper handoffs, with either the copper port or the SFP+ slot of each pair active at a time.
Up to eight C1300 Family 2 units run as one system with hardware failover and cross-stack link aggregation, so capacity grows one unit at a time.
Worst-case draw is 49.46W at 110V, dissipating 220.77 BTU/hr, and the single fan is rated at 27.6 dBA at 25°C. These figures set cooling and UPS load for a small equipment room.
Application Scenarios
In a branch office or small campus building, the switch aggregates 10G fiber uplinks from floor access switches, with SFP+ ports for SR or LR optics and combo ports for a few copper handoffs.
At the top of a small server or storage rack, the switch links hosts over 10G twinax or active optical cables, and iSCSI traffic optimization gives storage traffic priority.
A growing site can stack up to eight C1300 Family 2 units into one core with a single IP address, with inter-VLAN routing and DHCP services running on the stack.

C1300-24XS differs from C1300-24XT in port media: it dedicates 20 ports to 10G SFP+ where the other dedicates 20 to 10G copper, and the SFP+ model draws 49.46W worst case at 110V against 87.3W. Racks with copper-cabled 10G hosts need C1300-24XT, while fiber and twinax links stay on C1300-24XS. A plan that needs 12 copper and 12 SFP+ ports active together calls for C1300-24XTS, because C1300-24XS has copper only on its 4 combo ports. Sites with 12 links or fewer, at most 2 of them copper, can use C1300-12XS at 240 Gbps and a 3 MB buffer instead of 480 Gbps and 8 MB. All four are data-only and stack within C1300 Family 2.
Ordering Checklist
- Stack members: Stack only with C1300 Family 2 models: C1300-12XT-2X, C1300-12XS, C1300-16XTS, C1300-24XS, C1300-24XT or C1300-24XTS, up to 8 units. Cisco does not support stacking across families, so a member from another family cannot join.
- Stack links: Add DAC cables (preferred) or 10G optics for the SFP+ ports that become stack ports, at least 2 per unit; avoid RJ45 SFPs such as SFP-10G-T-X. The switch has no stack ports by default, and a port configured for stacking no longer carries user traffic.
- SFP+ optics and cables: Add modules or cables from the Catalyst 1300 supported list for the 20 SFP+ slots plus the 4 combo SFP+ slots in use, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR, SFP-H10GB-CU1M or SFP-10G-AOC1M. The switch ships without optics, so each SFP+ link needs its own module or cable on the order.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord or select NO-POWER-CORD. A switch ordered with NO-POWER-CORD arrives without a cord.
