C1300-8MGP-2X Description
The C1300-8MGP-2X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300 Series managed multigigabit PoE+ switch for branch offices and small businesses that need powered endpoint ports in a compact chassis. The switch has four 10/100/1000 and four 2.5G ports at 30W PoE+ each, a shared 120W PoE budget, two 10G SFP+ uplinks and 68 Gbps of nonblocking switching capacity in a fanless chassis. The switch stacks only with other C1300 Family 1 models, up to eight units per stack.

Product Performance
Key Features
Each of the eight ports supplies up to 30W PoE+ from one shared 120W budget. Phones, access points and cameras get power and data over a single cable each, as long as their combined draw stays under 120W.
Four ports run 10/100/1000 and four run 2.5G, all at 30W PoE+. The 2.5G ports suit endpoints that link above 1G, such as newer access points.
Two SFP+ ports carry the 10G uplinks, and stack ports are configured from these same ports; a configured stack port carries only stack traffic. A C1300 Family 1 stack of up to eight units runs under one IP address with hardware failover.
Worst-case draw is 145.1W at 110V with PoE loaded, against 21.4W without it. Size the UPS and circuit from the loaded figure, and add 494.79 BTU/hr to the room’s cooling budget.
The chassis has no fan, so it adds no fan noise or moving part to an open office or classroom. Its MTBF is 561,618 hours at 25°C.
Time-based PoE switches power on a user-defined schedule to save energy, and Persistent PoE keeps endpoints powered while the switch reboots.
Application Scenarios
In an open-plan office outside the wiring closet, the switch powers IP phones and wireless access points over a single cable each, and a 2.5G port serves an endpoint that links above 1G.
A retail store back room can run IP surveillance cameras and wired endpoints from this one small unit, with the two SFP+ ports linking to the store’s main switch.
In a classroom or an office waiting room, the switch gives PoE+ to wireless access points and voice endpoints, and guest traffic stays in a guest VLAN apart from business traffic.

C1300-8MGP-2X and C1300-8FP-2G both share 120W across 8 PoE ports, so power does not separate them: C1300-8MGP-2X has four 2.5G ports, 68 Gbps against 20 Gbps, and two 10G SFP+ uplinks in place of 1G combo ports. A closet that needs 24 powered ports or 375W moves to C1300-24MGP-4X, which stays in C1300 Family 1 and can stack with this switch, whereas C1300-8FP-2G is outside every stacking family. Endpoints that need 60W PoE++ or OSPF move to C1300X-10NU-2X, with ten 5G ports on 385W, 140 Gbps and OSPF v2 and v3, but it stacks only within the C1300X Family and adds a fan rated 38.9 dBA.

Budget against port ceiling |
Eight ports at 30W would total 240W, so add up the real endpoint draws and keep the sum within 120W |

PoE standards |
802.3at PoE+, 802.3af PoE, and Cisco pre-standard (legacy) PoE; match each endpoint to a supported class |

145.1W at 110V and 143.4W at 220V (worst case) |
|
Draw without PoE |
21.4W at 110V and 21.3W at 220V (worst case); idle 10.4W at 110V and 10.3W at 220V |

PoE scheduling |
Time-based PoE turns PoE power on or off on a user-defined schedule; Persistent PoE keeps power flowing to endpoints while the switch reboots |
Ordering Checklist
- SFP+ uplink modules: Add one module or cable per used SFP+ port, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR or SFP-H10GB-CU3M. The two uplinks are SFP+ only, with no copper combo side.
- Stack links: For a stack, turn two or more SFP+ ports into stack ports with DAC cables such as SFP-H10GB-CU1M; members must be in C1300 Family 1. Stack ports are SFP+ uplinks, DAC is preferred, and a different Family cannot join the stack.
- Rack bracket: Add RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= for a 19-inch rack. Only 24-port and 48-port models include a bracket; 8-port models use this separate kit.
- Power cord: Keep the cord in the package or select NO-POWER-CORD. With NO-POWER-CORD selected the box has no cord, so one must be sourced separately.
