C1300X-48T-4X Description
The C1300X-48T-4X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300X Series fixed managed Layer 3 switch for branch offices and small-business closets that connect data-only endpoints. The switch has 48 10/100/1000 ports, four SFP28 slots that run 10G as uplinks, and 176 Gbps of nonblocking switching capacity in a single-fan chassis rated 21.6 dBA at 25°C. The switch carries no PoE budget, runs OSPF v2 and v3, and stacks only with C1300X Family units, up to 8 in a stack.

Product Performance
Key Features
The switch is wire speed and nonblocking at 176 Gbps and 130.95 Mpps, and all 48 copper ports and the four SFP28 slots forward at line rate together. Access-to-uplink oversubscription remains: 48 Gbps of access traffic is 1.2:1 over four 10G uplinks and 4.8:1 over one, and stack links run over the same slots.
Stacking up to 8 units under a single IP address, with hardware failover, link aggregation across members, and hot swap of units, lets a closet grow by adding a member instead of replacing the chassis.
With up to 7,168 IPv4 routes, 256 IP interfaces, and a built-in DHCP server and relay, the switch can route between VLANs itself and exchange OSPF routes with the upstream router, which keeps internal traffic off that router.
Port security, 802.1X, and web-based authentication admit hosts per port, while DHCP snooping, IP Source Guard, and Dynamic ARP Inspection block spoofed addresses and up to 3,072 ACL rules filter traffic in both directions.
A worst-case system draw of 66.7W at 110V and 72.1W at 220V (285.6 BTU/hr), with no PoE load on top, sets the UPS and cooling ceiling. The single fan is rated 21.6 dBA at 25°C.
A USB Type C port handles console access and file and image management, and an external Bluetooth dongle gives a laptop or tablet CLI and GUI access. The embedded Cisco Business Dashboard probe removes the need for separate probe hardware or a virtual machine.
Application Scenarios
In a branch office closet, the switch serves as the access layer, cabling desktops, printers, and other data endpoints to its 48 ports and exchanging OSPF routes with the upstream router over the 10G SFP28 uplinks.
In a classroom outside the wiring closet, the switch gives a room of workstations data-only gigabit ports on a compact chassis.
In a hotel or an office waiting room, the switch extends guest connectivity, using guest VLAN, web-based authentication, and Private VLAN Edge ports so guest sessions stay private from each other and apart from business traffic.

C1300X-48T-4X adds OSPF v2 and v3, a 3 MB packet buffer, and 4 x SFP28 slots to the 48 x 10/100/1000 data-only layout that C1300-48T-4X offers with 4 x 10G SFP+ uplinks, a 1.5 MB buffer, and no OSPF. A design where the access switch peers over OSPF takes C1300X-48T-4X, while an installed C1300 Family 1 stack stays on C1300-48T-4X because stacking across Families is not supported. A closet that stays at 24 endpoints or fewer fits C1300X-24T-4X at 128 Gbps against 176 Gbps. Phones, access points, or cameras powered from the switch need C1300X-48P-4X, which has a 740W PoE budget on the same 48 ports.
Ordering Checklist
- Stacking: Stack only C1300X Family PIDs such as C1300X-24T-4X, C1300X-24P-4X, C1300X-48T-4X and C1300X-48P-4X, up to 8 units, over the SFP28 slots (25G for stacking only), using modules or cables like SFP-25G-AOC1M or SFP-H25G-CU1M sold separately. Stacking across Families is unsupported, so C1300 Family 1 or Family 2 units cannot join.
- Uplink optics: The 4 SFP28 slots run 10G as uplinks. Pick modules or cables from the Catalyst 1300 supported list, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR or SFP-H10GB-CU3M; the list covers the family, not each model, and optics are not included.
- Power cord: Keep the included power cord or select NO-POWER-CORD. Selecting NO-POWER-CORD removes the cord from the package, so one must be sourced separately.
