C1300X-48NGU-4X Description
The C1300X-48NGU-4X is a Cisco Catalyst 1300X Series fixed managed Layer 3 PoE++ switch for branch offices that run gigabit phones and cameras beside 60W-class wireless access points. The switch has 40 Gigabit PoE+ ports, eight 5G PoE++ ports and four SFP28 uplinks at 10G, with a 740W PoE budget, 240 Gbps of switching capacity and an 8 MB packet buffer. Stacking of up to eight units accepts only C1300X Family models.

Key Features
All 48 ports are PoE-capable, forty rated 30W PoE+ and eight 5G ports rated 60W PoE++. Endpoints on both classes need no separate power supplies while their combined draw stays within the 740W budget.
The 8 MB buffer is shared dynamically across all ports and sits behind 240 Gbps of nonblocking switching and 178.57 Mpps of forwarding. That is the largest buffer in the C1300X range, which gives bursty traffic from a full 48-port floor more room.
The four SFP28 slots run at 10G as uplinks and reach 25G only for stacking. Up to eight C1300X Family switches form one stack with a single IP address and hardware failover.
OSPF v2 and v3 run beside RIP v2 and policy-based routing, with up to 7,168 IPv4 routes, 3,072 ACL rules and 4,000 IGMP snooping groups.
Worst-case input with PoE is 858.4W at 110V and 869.1W at 220V, against 113.2W and 122.4W for the system alone, with 3079.46 BTU/hr of heat. Circuit, UPS and room cooling are planned on the loaded figures.
The chassis carries two fans rated 49.2 dBA at 25°C in a body 340 mm deep. The install point has to tolerate that noise level and depth.
Application Scenarios
In a branch office floor closet, the eight 5G PoE++ ports power 60W-class wireless access points such as Wi-Fi 7 models, while IP phones draw from the gigabit PoE+ ports of the same chassis.
At a site with IP cameras, the 40 Gigabit PoE+ ports deliver power and data over one Ethernet cable each, so no camera position needs its own power supply.
In the access tier of a growing site, units join one C1300X Family stack over time and route with OSPF v2 and v3 toward the upstream router.

C1300X-48NGU-4X and C1300X-24NGU-4X share eight 5G 60W PoE++ ports and a 740W budget, but C1300X-48NGU-4X powers 48 ports with 240 Gbps and an 8 MB buffer, while C1300X-24NGU-4X powers 24 ports with 192 Gbps and 3 MB. A floor whose endpoints all stay at 30W and 1G fits C1300X-48P-4X, which has 48 PoE+ ports on 740W, 176 Gbps and no 5G or 60W ports. C1300-48MGP-4X puts 16 of its 48 PoE+ ports at 2.5G on 740W, but it has 4 x SFP+ instead of SFP28, no OSPF, and stacks in C1300 Family 1 rather than the C1300X Family.
PoE Power Planning
|
Planning Item |
Value or Check |
|---|---|
|
PoE power budget |
740W, shared across all PoE-capable ports |
|
PoE-capable ports |
48 ports: 40 rated 30W PoE+ and 8 rated 60W PoE++ |
|
Port rating against budget |
The 8 PoE++ ports total 480W at 60W each and the 40 PoE+ ports total 1,200W at 30W each, 1,680W in all against the 740W budget, so the real wattage of each phone, camera, and access point sets how many ports can be loaded, not the port rating |
|
Average at full port use |
740W spread across 48 PoE-capable ports averages about 15.4W per port, so a fully populated unit works only when endpoint draws average at or below that figure |
|
PoE standard |
The 40 gigabit ports are 30W PoE+ ports and the 8 5G ports are 60W PoE++ ports; the model supports 802.3bt (Type 3) PoE++ and 802.3at PoE+ |
|
Power supply |
Internal universal supply, 100-240V 50-60 Hz |
|
Schedule control |
Time-based PoE turns PoE power on or off on a user-defined schedule |
|
Reboot behavior |
Persistent PoE provides PoE power while the switch is rebooting |
Ordering Checklist
- Stack members: C1300X-48NGU-4X stacks only with C1300X Family PIDs, up to 8 units, over its SFP28 slots (25G for stacking only). Buy SFP-25G-AOC1M, SFP-H25G-CU1M or another supported 25G stack link separately; C1300 Family 1 and Family 2 models cannot join.
- Uplink optics: Add a 10G module from the supported list, such as SFP-10G-SR, SFP-10G-LR, SFP-10G-ER or SFP-10G-AOC1M, to each of the 4 SFP28 slots. The slots ship empty and the uplink runs at 10G on this model.
- Power cord: A power cord matched to the site outlet ships in the package. Select NO-POWER-CORD to leave it out, and the box then has no cord.
