The C9300L-48UXG-2Q-E is a Cisco Catalyst 9300L fixed-uplink UPOE access switch for campus wiring closets that connect Multigigabit Wi-Fi access points. It has 12 Multigigabit and 36 Gigabit Cisco UPOE ports, two fixed 40G QSFP+ uplinks, a 675W default PoE budget and 472 Gbps of switching capacity under Network Essentials. The switch has no network module slot, and its StackWise-320 stack accepts only Catalyst 9300L and 9300LM members at the same license level.

Key Features
The two QSFP+ ports are built in and carry 80 Gbps toward the distribution layer. With no network module slot, uplink speed stays at 40G for the life of the switch.
Twelve ports negotiate 100M, 1G, 2.5G, 5G or 10G, and the other 36 run at 10/100/1000 Mbps. Cat5e carries Multigigabit runs up to 5G, Cat6 reaches 10G within 55 m, and Cat6A holds 10G over the full 100 m.
Cisco UPOE reaches all 48 ports, but the default PWR-C1-1100WAC-P supply provides 675W. A second supply raises the budget to 1025W with a 350W unit, 1390W with a 715W unit and 1775W with a second 1100W unit, and 60W on up to 30 ports needs two 1100W supplies.
Every port forwards at line rate for IPv4 and IPv6 at 351.19 Mpps with 64-byte packets. Switching capacity counts as 792 Gbps when the switch is part of a stack.
Up to eight Catalyst 9300L or 9300LM switches stack over StackWise-320 at 320 Gbps. Modular-uplink Catalyst 9300 and 9300X switches cannot join, and with no StackPower every member runs on its own supplies.
Network Essentials includes Layer 2, routed access with RIP, EIGRP Stub and OSPF up to 1,000 routes, 802.1X and MACsec-128. BGP, IS-IS, VRF, VXLAN and Cisco TrustSec are part of Network Advantage, and C9300L-LIC= adds that tier later.
Application Scenarios
On an office floor with Wi-Fi 6 access points that uplink at 2.5G or 5G, the switch powers them from its Multigigabit UPOE ports and sends the aggregate to the distribution layer over two 40G QSFP+ links.
A school or mid-size office that routes at the access edge can run the closet as an OSPF area member, provided the campus routing table stays under 1,000 routes.
Virtual desktop terminals, building management gateways and LED fixtures plug into the Gigabit UPOE ports of an open-plan floor, and each device authenticates through 802.1X before it reaches its VLAN.

C9300L-48UXG-2Q-E and C9300L-48UXG-4X-E share the same 48 UPOE ports and 675W default budget, but this model ends in two fixed 40G QSFP+ uplinks and switches 472 Gbps against 392 Gbps, so a distribution layer that hands off at 40G needs it, while 10G SFP+ handoffs can use C9300L-48UXG-4X-E. Network Essentials limits OSPF to 1,000 routes and omits BGP, VRF and VXLAN; sites that need them on day one order C9300L-48UXG-2Q-A, or upgrade later with a C9300L-48-E-A term license under C9300L-LIC=, which cannot be placed on the switch order. Closets with 24 or fewer drops start at 722W on C9300L-24UXG-2Q-E, with eight mGig UPOE ports in place of twelve.

- Subscription tier: Order a 48-port Essentials term of 3, 5 or 7 years, such as C9300L-DNA-E-48-5Y for Cisco DNA or C9300L-DNX-E-48-5Y for Cisco Catalyst. New orders need the subscription at the same tier as the Network Essentials license.
- Second power supply: The configurator adds a second PWR-C1-1100WAC-P by default and C9300L-SPS-NONE removes it. With the second supply the PoE budget is 1775W; without it, 675W.
- Stack kit: C9300L-STACK-KIT with a 50 cm cable is added by default; Catalyst 9300LM members take only C9300L-STACK-KIT2. A stack that includes 9300LM switches needs Kit 2 adapters.
- Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country; two cords ship with the default configuration. The configurator defaults to North America cords.
