The C9300L-48UXG-4X-A is a Cisco Catalyst 9300L fixed-uplink UPOE access switch for wiring closets that route and segment traffic under Network Advantage. All 48 RJ-45 ports carry Cisco UPOE, 12 of them Multigigabit up to 10G and 36 at 10/100/1000 Mbps, alongside four fixed 10G/1G SFP+ uplinks and 392 Gbps of switching capacity. The default 1100W supply gives a 675W PoE budget, and the switch stacks over StackWise-320 only with Catalyst 9300L and 9300LM models at the same license level.

Product Performance
Key Features
Network Advantage removes the 1,000-route OSPF ceiling of Network Essentials and adds BGP, IS-IS, HSRP and full EIGRP. Segmentation comes with it too: VRF, VXLAN, LISP and Cisco TrustSec with SGT tags, plus NETCONF, RESTCONF and gRPC for model-driven configuration.
Twelve ports negotiate 100M, 1G, 2.5G, 5G or 10G, and the other 36 stay at 10/100/1000 Mbps. The cable decides how fast a Multigigabit run goes: Cat5e is rated to 5G, Cat6 reaches 10G within 55 m, and Cat6A holds 10G over the full 100 m.
The 392 Gbps of switching capacity equals all ports running at once in both directions: 12 x 10G plus 36 x 1G plus 4 x 10G is 196 Gbps each way. Forwarding stays nonblocking for IPv4 and IPv6 at 291.66 Mpps with 64-byte packets.
The four uplinks take 1G SFP or 10G SFP+ optics, and with no network module slot their count and speed cannot change later. When every access port runs flat out, 156 Gbps of downlink traffic shares 40 Gbps of uplink, a 3.9:1 ratio.
StackWise-320 joins up to eight Catalyst 9300L or 9300LM switches at 320 Gbps, and switching capacity counts as 712 Gbps with stacking. StackPower is not part of this line, and each member runs on its own supplies.
Cisco IOS XE Gibraltar 16.12.2 is the first release that supports this model. The general floor for the Catalyst 9300L line is 16.11.1b, so an image chosen for older members of a stack can be too early for this switch.
Application Scenarios
In an SD-Access campus, the switch acts as the fabric edge on floors where Wi-Fi 6 and 6E access points connect at Multigigabit speeds and phones, desktops and cameras fill the Gigabit ports.
Building management gateways, UPOE-powered LED lighting and security cameras share the closet switch with office users, while a dedicated VRF keeps their routes apart from the corporate network.
Network teams that build and audit configuration through NETCONF, RESTCONF or gRPC tooling bring this access layer under the same pipelines they use for the core.

C9300L-48UXG-4X-A and C9300L-48UXG-4X-E share the same 48 UPOE ports, 4 x 10G/1G SFP+ uplinks and 675W default budget; Network Advantage adds BGP, IS-IS, VRF, VXLAN and OSPF without a route limit, where C9300L-48UXG-4X-E stops at 1,000 OSPF routes and moves up later only through C9300L-LIC=. A site that runs only Layer 2 and basic routed access can drop to Essentials and give up those features. Distribution layers that terminate 40G need C9300L-48UXG-2Q-A, which swaps the four SFP+ uplinks for two 40G QSFP+ and reaches 472 Gbps against 392 Gbps. C9300L-24UXG-4X-A suits closets of 24 or fewer drops, with eight Multigigabit ports and an 880W default budget against 675W.

Ordering Checklist
- Subscription tier: Order a 48-port Advantage term of 3, 5 or 7 years, such as C9300L-DNA-A-48-5Y for Cisco DNA or C9300L-DNX-A-48-5Y for Cisco Catalyst. New orders need the subscription at the same tier as the Network Advantage license.
- Second power supply: The configurator adds a second PWR-C1-1100WAC-P by default and C9300L-SPS-NONE removes it. With the second supply the PoE budget is 1775W; without it, 675W.
- Stack kit: C9300L-STACK-KIT with a 50 cm cable is added by default; Catalyst 9300LM members take only C9300L-STACK-KIT2. A stack that includes 9300LM switches needs Kit 2 adapters.
- Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country; two cords ship with the default configuration. The configurator defaults to North America cords.
