C9300L-48P-4X-E Description
The C9300L-48P-4X-E is a Cisco Catalyst 9300L Series fixed-uplink stackable access switch for floor closets that run Layer 2 access with limited routing to PoE+ endpoints. The switch has 48 10/100/1000 PoE+ ports, four fixed 10G/1G SFP+ uplinks, 176 Gbps of switching capacity and a 505W default PoE budget. The -E suffix carries Network Essentials, which routes OSPF up to 1,000 routes and secures links with MACsec-128 but leaves out VRF, VXLAN and MACsec-256.

Product Performance
Key Features
Essentials supports Layer 2 switching and routed access with OSPF up to 1,000 routes. That suits closets that pass routing to distribution rather than run it locally.
The default 715W supply leaves 505W for PoE, enough for a mixed load of phones and access points. Powering all 48 ports at 30W needs 1440W, which takes a second 1100W supply.
Four SFP+ uplinks come built in and take 10G or 1G optics. Without a network module slot, uplink speed is set by the model.
Up to eight units join a stack that raises switching capacity from 176 Gbps to 496 Gbps. Members must be Catalyst 9300L or 9300LM models on the same license level.
Model-driven telemetry, sampled NetFlow, SPAN and RSPAN are part of Essentials, the same as at Network Advantage. Flow visibility and remote port mirroring do not need the higher level.
The switch runs from -5 C to 45 C at 5 to 90 percent humidity. Typical wiring closets fit that range, and sites outside it need a conditioned cabinet.
Application Scenarios
In a floor wiring closet that hands routing to the distribution layer, the switch powers PoE+ phones and access points and uplinks to the core over 10G SFP+ ports.
A branch office with a handful of local subnets can route between them with OSPF inside the 1,000-route Essentials limit, while two of the four SFP+ uplinks connect to the site core.
An office building that adds floors over time can join up to eight switches over StackWise-320 and manage the powered phones and access points across floors as one stack.

C9300L-48P-4X-E is the Network Essentials version of C9300L-48P-4X-A, with the same 48 PoE+ ports, 505W default budget and 176 Gbps, but Essentials stops at OSPF with 1,000 routes and MACsec-128, so VRF, VXLAN, Cisco TrustSec or MACsec-256 call for C9300L-48P-4X-A. An installed C9300L-48P-4X-E can take a C9300L-LIC= term (C9300L-48-E-A-3, -5 or -7), which cannot be added to the same purchase as the switch. Closets whose PoE+ load exceeds 505W use C9300L-48PF-4X-E with an 890W default budget, and racks without powered devices use C9300L-48T-4X-E on a 350W supply with no PoE.

Ordering Checklist
- Subscription tier and term: Order a 48-port Essentials term: C9300L-DNA-E-48-3Y, -5Y or -7Y, or the Catalyst equivalent C9300L-DNX-E-48-3Y, -5Y or -7Y. A term subscription is mandatory on a new order and must match the Network Essentials tier; the configurator defaults to Advantage with a 5-year term.
- Second power supply: A second supply matching the first is selected by default; keep it or select C9300L-SPS-NONE to remove it. The second supply decides how much PoE budget is available to powered devices.
- Stack kit: C9300L-STACK-KIT is the default and includes a 50 cm cable; select 1 m or 3 m instead, or choose C9300L-STACK-KIT2. A stack member without the adapters and a cable cannot join a StackWise-320 stack.
- Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country; the configurator defaults to North America and ships two cords. Cords for the wrong country do not fit the site outlets.
