C9300L-48P-4G-E Description
The C9300L-48P-4G-E is a Cisco Catalyst 9300L stackable access switch on the Network Essentials license, built to power phones and access points from Gigabit wiring closets. All 48 10/100/1000 Mbps ports deliver PoE+ from a 505W budget on the default 715W supply, and traffic leaves the 104 Gbps chassis through four fixed 1G SFP uplinks. Network Essentials stops OSPF at 1,000 routes and does not include BGP, VRF or VXLAN, and the uplink speed is set by the chassis because there is no network module slot.

Product Performance
Key Features
The switch can be the first-hop router for its own VLANs. Network Essentials includes RIP, EIGRP Stub and OSPF up to 1,000 routes, together with policy-based routing, VRRP gateway redundancy and PIM Stub multicast.
Each port can hold a device off the network until it passes 802.1X, and links between switches can be encrypted with MACsec-128. Private VLANs, first-hop security and control-plane policing are part of the same license, while model-driven telemetry, sampled NetFlow, SPAN and RSPAN work on either tier.
There is no module slot, so the four SFP ports are the only uplinks and they run at 1G. Forty-eight access ports at line rate can offer 48 Gbps against 4 Gbps of uplink, which is 12:1 when every port is busy.
StackWise-320 joins up to eight Catalyst 9300L or 9300LM switches at 320 Gbps, and every member has to run the same license level. A stack built from this model therefore stays on Network Essentials, and modular-uplink Catalyst 9300 and 9300X switches cannot be members.
Phones and access points stay powered while the switch reloads, through Perpetual PoE. After a power outage, Fast PoE switches port power back on before Cisco IOS XE has finished booting.
Three FAN-T2= modules cool the chassis from front and side to rear, and one can fail without stopping the switch. The second of the two supply bays ships with a blank, which has to stay in place unless a second supply is fitted.
Application Scenarios
In a campus where the distribution pair does all the routing, the switch trunks phone, access point and desktop VLANs upstream over its 1G SFP uplinks and leaves the gateway role to the layer above.
A school with a handful of buildings can route at each closet as an OSPF area member while classroom phones and access points draw PoE+, provided the routing table stays under 1,000 routes.
On clinic and office floors, IP phones, badge readers and shared workstations authenticate through 802.1X before they reach their VLAN, and the powered devices take PoE+ from the same switch.

C9300L-48P-4G-E and C9300L-48P-4G-A are the same 48-port PoE+ switch with four fixed 1G SFP uplinks, and only the license separates them: Network Essentials stops OSPF at 1,000 routes and leaves out BGP, IS-IS, VRF, VXLAN and MACsec-256. A closet that needs any of those from the first day should be ordered as C9300L-48P-4G-A. An installed Essentials switch moves up later through C9300L-LIC= with a C9300L-48-E-A-3, -5 or -7 term, which cannot be bought with the switch. Where the access layer hands off at 10G, C9300L-48P-4X-E keeps the 505W PoE+ ports and adds four 10G/1G uplinks with 176 Gbps of switching capacity. C9300L-48T-4G-E fits closets with no powered endpoints, on a 350W supply without PoE.

Ordering Checklist
- Subscription tier: Order a 48-port Essentials term of 3, 5 or 7 years, such as C9300L-DNA-E-48-5Y for Cisco DNA or C9300L-DNX-E-48-5Y for Cisco Catalyst. New orders need the subscription at the same tier as the Network Essentials license.
- Second power supply: The configurator adds a second PWR-C1-715WAC-P by default, and C9300L-SPS-NONE removes it. With that supply the PoE budget is 1220W; without it, 505W.
- Stack kit: C9300L-STACK-KIT with a 50 cm STACK-T3 cable is included by default, and 1 m or 3 m cables can be selected. Stacks that include Catalyst 9300LM switches need C9300L-STACK-KIT2.
- Power cords: Choose the cord type for the destination country; the configurator defaults to North America and ships two cords with the default configuration.
