The C9300-24S-A is a Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series stackable access switch for fiber-cabled wiring closets and building aggregation points. The switch has 24 1G SFP ports, a modular uplink slot and 208 Gbps of switching capacity, carries the Network Advantage license, and runs from a default 715W AC supply. The 24 SFP ports provide no PoE, and the switch stacks over StackWise-480 only with other Catalyst 9300 models at the same license level.

24 Fixed 1G SFP Ports

Every downlink is a fiber cage, so existing single-mode or multimode runs connect without media converters. The transceiver in each cage sets the reach.

Modular Uplink Slot

The slot ships empty and takes Catalyst 9300 network modules such as the C9300-NM-8X with eight 10G/1G SFP+ ports. Uplink speed can be raised later by swapping the module.

Network Advantage Routing And Segmentation

BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, VRF, VXLAN and Cisco TrustSec are included on top of Layer 2 switching. A stack can therefore originate routes and carry segmentation policy itself.

StackWise-480 With StackPower

Up to eight switches join one logical unit at 480 Gbps of stack bandwidth. StackPower lets members share power across the ring.

MACsec-256 And Programmability

MACsec-256 encryption and NETCONF, RESTCONF and YANG model-driven management come with this license. Both matter on fiber links that leave the closet.

Two Power Supply Bays

The switch runs on one 715W AC supply and has a second internal bay. A second PWR-C1-715WAC-P adds 1+1 power redundancy.

Inter-Building Fiber Aggregation

A campus building that receives single-mode or multimode fiber drops from several floors can terminate them on the switch’s SFP ports, past the 100 m reach of copper, and pass the traffic upstream through the uplink module.

Encrypted Link Between Buildings

Where a fiber run crosses less secure space, the switch encrypts the link with MACsec-256, and its VRF support keeps tenant or department traffic separated on the same stack.

Routed Fiber Access Stack

C9300-24S-A has 24 fixed 1G SFP fiber ports, while C9300-24T-A has 24 1G RJ-45 copper ports at the same 208 Gbps of switching capacity, so a closet wired in copper belongs on C9300-24T-A, which also ships on a 350W supply instead of the 715W PWR-C1-715WAC-P. Closets that need more than 24 fiber drops per switch move to C9300-48S-A, with 48 SFP ports and 256 Gbps of switching capacity. None of the three powers devices over PoE, so a design with powered endpoints needs a different C9300 model. C9300-24S-A and C9300-48S-A start at Cisco IOS XE 16.11.1a against 16.5.1a for C9300-24T-A, a higher software floor for stacks that run an older image.

Ordering Checklist

  • Subscription tier: Select an Advantage term for 24-port fiber models: C9300-DNA-A-24S in 3, 5 or 7 years. The subscription tier must match the Network Advantage switch license; the configurator default is Advantage for 5 years.
  • Uplink module: Keep the default C9300-NM-8X, change it, or select C9300-NM-NONE. The default module is added to the order unless it is changed or removed.
  • Second power supply: A second PWR-C1-715WAC-P is selected by default; C9300-SPS-NONE removes it. The second supply is added to the order unless it is removed.
  • Stack cables: A default 50 cm StackWise cable (C9300-STACK-NONE removes it) and 30 cm StackPower cable (C9300-SPWR-NONE removes it) are added. Both cables are added whether or not the switch is stacked.
  • Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country. The configurator defaults to North America cords, and two cords ship per switch.
