C9300L-48UXG-4X-E Description
The C9300L-48UXG-4X-E is a Cisco Catalyst 9300L fixed-uplink UPOE access switch for wiring closets that switch at Layer 2 or route the access edge with OSPF under Network Essentials. All 48 RJ-45 ports carry Cisco UPOE at up to 60W, 12 of them Multigigabit up to 10G and 36 at 10/100/1000 Mbps, with four fixed 10G/1G SFP+ uplinks and 392 Gbps of switching capacity. The default 1100W supply provides a 675W PoE budget, and Network Essentials caps OSPF at 1,000 routes and omits BGP, VRF and VXLAN.

Product Performance
Key Features
The switch can act as the first-hop router for its own VLANs. Network Essentials includes RIP, EIGRP Stub and OSPF up to 1,000 routes, along with policy-based routing, VRRP gateway redundancy and PIM Stub multicast for up to 1,000 routes.
802.1X port authentication, MACsec-128, private VLANs and control-plane policing all come with this license. Model-driven telemetry, sampled NetFlow, SPAN and RSPAN are included as well, so monitoring does not depend on the license tier.
Cisco UPOE reaches every one of the 48 ports, not just the Multigigabit twelve. Virtual desktop terminals, building management gateways and LED fixtures that need up to 60W can therefore land on any of the 36 Gigabit ports, and PoE+ and standard PoE devices are supported on the same ports.
On the twelve Multigigabit ports, Cat5e carries 100M through 5G, and bundled Cat5e runs at 5G are limited to 45 m. For 10G, Cat6 works up to 55 m and Cat6A up to the full 100 m. These ports run full duplex only.
Inside the switch, 392 Gbps of capacity forwards every port at line rate for IPv4 and IPv6. The exit is narrower: 156 Gbps of possible access traffic meets 40 Gbps across the four fixed SFP+ uplinks, and with no network module slot that uplink capacity cannot grow later.
Up to eight Catalyst 9300L or 9300LM switches stack as one unit over StackWise-320 at 320 Gbps. Modular-uplink Catalyst 9300 and 9300X switches cannot join the stack, and there is no StackPower, so every member draws on its own supplies.
Application Scenarios
In a campus where the distribution pair handles all routing, the switch trunks access-point, phone and desktop VLANs upstream over its SFP+ uplinks and leaves gateway duties to the layer above.
A school or mid-size office that routes at the access layer can run the closet as an OSPF area member, provided the campus routing table stays under 1,000 routes.
Open-plan floors with shared desks plug virtual desktop terminals and IP phones into UPOE ports, and each device authenticates through 802.1X before it reaches the user VLAN.

C9300L-48UXG-4X-E and C9300L-48UXG-4X-A use the same 48 UPOE ports and 4 x 10G/1G SFP+ uplinks, but Network Essentials stops at 1,000 OSPF routes and has no BGP, IS-IS, VRF, VXLAN or TrustSec. Closets that need any of them on day one must order C9300L-48UXG-4X-A; an installed Essentials switch can move up later with a C9300L-48-E-A term license under C9300L-LIC=, which cannot be placed on the switch order. A 40G handoff on Essentials calls for C9300L-48UXG-2Q-E, which replaces the four SFP+ ports with two QSFP+ and reaches 472 Gbps against 392 Gbps. For 24 or fewer drops, C9300L-24UXG-4X-E offers an 880W default budget with eight Multigigabit ports.

Ordering Checklist
- Subscription tier: Order a 48-port Essentials term of 3, 5 or 7 years, such as C9300L-DNA-E-48-5Y for Cisco DNA or C9300L-DNX-E-48-5Y for Cisco Catalyst. New orders need the subscription at the same tier as the Network Essentials license.
- Second power supply: The configurator adds a second PWR-C1-1100WAC-P by default and C9300L-SPS-NONE removes it. With the second supply the PoE budget is 1775W; without it, 675W.
- Stack kit: C9300L-STACK-KIT with a 50 cm cable is added by default; Catalyst 9300LM members take only C9300L-STACK-KIT2. A stack that includes 9300LM switches needs Kit 2 adapters.
- Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country; two cords ship with the default configuration. The configurator defaults to North America cords.
