C9300X-24HX-A Description
The C9300X-24HX-A is a Cisco Catalyst 9300X Series stackable access switch for 24-port closets that deliver up to 90W per port and need Network Advantage features such as BGP and VXLAN. The switch carries 24 UPOE+ ports at up to 10G Multigigabit with a 735W PoE budget on its default 1100W supply, and 800 Gbps of switching capacity sits behind a modular uplink slot. Cisco IOS XE Cupertino 17.9.1 is the first release for the switch, and its uplink slot does not accept the four-port C9300X-NM-4C module.

Product Performance
Key Features
The default supply leaves 735W for PoE, which runs eight ports at a full 90W. The second 1100W supply that the configurator adds raises the budget to 1835W, or 20 ports at 90W. With the default primary, only a 1900W secondary supply reaches 2160W, enough for all 24, and that supply delivers its full 1900W only on 230V input.
All 24 ports negotiate 100M, 1G, 2.5G, 5G or 10G. Existing Cat5e carries a port up to 5G, while 10G needs Cat6 for runs up to 55 m or Cat6A for the full 100 m. Half duplex is not supported.
The uplink slot takes C9300X-NM-8M for eight 10G copper ports, C9300X-NM-8Y for eight 25G SFP ports, or C9300X-NM-2C for two 100G ports. The four-port C9300X-NM-4C does not fit this chassis, and modules from non-X Catalyst 9300 switches do not fit either.
Network Advantage removes the 1,000-route OSPF ceiling of the Essentials tier and adds BGP, IS-IS and HSRP. VRF, VXLAN, LISP, Cisco TrustSec and MPLS are available for segmentation, with MACsec-256 on the links and NETCONF, RESTCONF and gRPC for automation.
The UADP 2.0sec ASIC encrypts at up to 100G with AES-256. Tunnels end on the switch itself only when two items are in place: a separately ordered HSEC key and the Advantage tier of the Cisco Catalyst or Cisco DNA subscription.
Eight Catalyst 9300X switches stack at the full 1 Tbps when every member runs the same license level. A non-X Catalyst 9300 member holds the stack to StackWise-480 speed, and the higher-scale C9300-24UB, C9300-24UXB and C9300-48UB cannot join. StackPower+ shares supply capacity across four switches per ring, or eight with an XPS-2200.
Application Scenarios
On a campus built on SD-Access, the switch acts as the fabric edge for a floor of multigigabit access points, and the Advantage subscription tier enables the fabric role.
LED lighting, digital signage and pan-tilt-zoom thermal cameras draw up to 90W each from the UPOE+ ports, while VRF or VXLAN keeps building-system traffic apart from office users on the same switch.
A branch office with a single wiring closet uses a stack of these switches for both access and routing, exchanging routes with the WAN edge over BGP that Network Advantage provides.

C9300X-24HX-A and C9300X-24HX-E share the same 24 UPOE+ ports and 735W default budget and differ only in license: Network Advantage against Network Essentials. A closet that runs Layer 2 and OSPF within 1,000 routes, with no BGP, VXLAN, MPLS or MACsec-256, can drop to C9300X-24HX-E. Moving that switch back up later takes a C9300-LIC= term such as C9300-24-E-A-5, which cannot sit on the original order. Closets with more than 24 powered endpoints move to C9300X-48HX-A, which doubles the ports and accepts C9300X-NM-4C but starts at 590W of PoE. Where 60W UPOE per port and StackWise-480 are enough, C9300-24UX-A covers 24 Multigigabit ports with a 1440W ceiling. Every member of a stack must run the same license level.

Ordering Checklist
- Subscription tier: Order a 24-port Advantage term of 3, 5 or 7 years, such as C9300-DNA-A-24-5Y for Cisco DNA. New orders need a subscription at the same tier as the Network Advantage license.
- HSEC key: Add the HSEC key when IPsec tunnels will end on the switch. Hardware IPsec stays unavailable without it, even on Network Advantage.
- Uplink module: The configurator adds C9300X-NM-2C; keep it, change it to C9300X-NM-8M or C9300X-NM-8Y, or select C9300X-NM-NONE. C9300X-NM-4C does not fit this switch, and an empty slot needs a blank.
- Second power supply: A second PWR-C1-1100WAC-P is selected by default and C9300-SPS-NONE removes it. Without it the PoE budget stays at 735W instead of 1835W.
- Stack cables: A 3 m StackWise cable and a 150 cm StackPower cable come with each switch unless C9300X-STACK-NONE and C9300-SPWR-NONE are selected. Unstacked switches otherwise arrive with cables they do not use.
- Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country, because the configurator defaults to North American cords.
