C9300X-48TX-E Description
The C9300X-48TX-E is a Cisco Catalyst 9300X 48-port 10G/mGig copper access switch with a modular uplink bay. Its 48 ports run from 100M to 10G, it carries no PoE (data only) on a 715W AC default supply, and it switches 1,760 Gbps with Network Essentials licensing. VXLAN, LISP and MPLS are not part of Network Essentials and need Network Advantage.

Key Features
All 48 ports negotiate 100M, 1G, 2.5G, 5G or 10G over Cat 5e/6/6A copper. A closet can raise per-port speed during a refresh without pulling new cable.
The bay accepts C9300X-NM network modules for 10G, 25G, 40G or 100G uplinks. Uplink speed can change later by swapping the module rather than the switch.
The license covers Layer 2, routed access with OSPF up to 1000 routes, 802.1X and MACsec-128. Network Advantage adds VRF, VXLAN, LISP, MPLS and automation features.
Application Scenarios
In a floor wiring closet, the switch connects Wi-Fi 6E uplink aggregators and high-speed workstations over existing Cat 5e/6/6A runs at up to 10G per port, with VLAN segmentation and routed access handled on Network Essentials.
A lab or edge compute room with servers and workstations that draw no PoE can use the 48 data-only ports, and the 715W supply is sized for a switch with no PoE load.
A campus building adding capacity to an existing C9300X stack can bring the switch in as a member, joined by StackWise-1T cables at 1 Tbps with up to eight members.

C9300X-48TX-E is the data-only model of this group: its 48 10G/mGig copper ports run from a 715W supply with no PoE, while C9300X-48HX-E has the same 1,760 Gbps switching capacity and StackWise-1T stacking with Cisco UPOE+ and a 590W PoE budget on an 1100W supply. Closets that will power access points, phones or cameras from the switch need C9300X-48HX-E. A design that only needs 1G PoE+ ports, with 256 Gbps of capacity and StackWise-480, can use C9300-48P-E instead. Network Essentials leaves out VXLAN, LISP and MPLS, so a switch that needs them on day one should be ordered as C9300X-48TX-A, or upgraded later with a C9300-LIC= term (C9300-48-E-A-3, -5 or -7), which cannot be placed on the switch order.
Ordering Checklist
- Subscription term: Order a 3-, 5- or 7-year Essentials term from the C9300-DNA-x-48 or C9300-DNX-x-48 family. A Catalyst or Cisco DNA subscription is mandatory on every Catalyst 9300 switch order.
- Uplink module: Keep the default C9300X-NM-2C, change to another C9300X-NM module, or select C9300X-NM-NONE. The bay ships with a module by default, and non-X C9300-NM modules do not fit this chassis.
- Second power supply: A second supply matching the primary is selected by default; C9300-SPS-NONE removes it. Dropping it saves cost but removes power redundancy from the order.
- Stack cables: A 3m StackWise cable and a 150CM StackPower cable are selected by default; C9300X-STACK-NONE and C9300-SPWR-NONE remove them. A standalone switch otherwise pays for cables it never uses, and a stack member needs the right length.
