One Port Type, Three Speeds

All 24 downlinks are SFP28 cages that negotiate 25G, 10G or 1G. New 25G runs and older 10G or 1G fiber can therefore land on the same switch, each with its own optic.

Routed Access On Network Essentials

The Essentials tier covers Layer 2, private VLANs and VRRP, and it routes with RIP, EIGRP Stub and OSPF up to 1,000 routes. PBR and PIM Stub multicast are included. Access security uses 802.1X and MACsec-128, while sampled NetFlow, SPAN and RSPAN handle visibility.

Uplink Module Up To 4 x 100G

C9300X-NM-8M, C9300X-NM-8Y, C9300X-NM-2C and the four-port 100G/40G C9300X-NM-4C all fit the uplink slot; modules from non-X Catalyst 9300 switches do not. C9300X-NM-4C requires Cisco IOS XE Bengaluru 17.6.1 or later, and an empty slot must hold a blank.

Two Supply Bays, No PoE Load

At 115 VAC with full port traffic and no network module, the switch measured 221.2W on its default PWR-C1-715WAC-P. A second 350W, 715W, 1100W or 1900W AC supply in the other bay adds redundancy, and no combination adds PoE.

StackPower+ Between Members

StackPower+ pools the power supplies of stack members, and a switch can run from that shared budget when its own supply is out. A StackPower ring holds up to four switches, or eight with an XPS-2200.

Same-Tier StackWise-1T Stacks

StackWise-1T joins up to eight Catalyst 9300X switches at 1 Tbps. Every member needs the same license level, which keeps an Essentials stack all Essentials. A non-X Catalyst 9300 member slows the ring to StackWise-480.

C9300X-24Y-E runs Network Essentials on the same 24-port SFP28 hardware that C9300X-24Y-A ships with Network Advantage. Once a design calls for BGP, more than 1,000 OSPF routes, VXLAN, MPLS, MACsec-256, hardware IPsec or app hosting, a new order should be C9300X-24Y-A; a switch already installed moves up with a C9300-LIC= upgrade license, which cannot be purchased with the switch itself. Sites that need only 12 SFP28 ports can use C9300X-12Y-E at 1,000 Gbps, though that model cannot hold the 4 x 100G C9300X-NM-4C. C9300-24S-E stays at 1G SFP, 208 Gbps and StackWise-480.

Ordering Checklist

Subscription tier: Choose a 25G-fiber Essentials term of 3, 5 or 7 years, such as C9300-DNA-L-E-5Y for Cisco DNA or C9300-DNX-E-24Y-5Y for Cisco Catalyst. The configurator defaults to Cisco DNA Advantage, which does not match a Network Essentials switch on a new order.
Uplink module: The configurator adds C9300X-NM-2C; keep it, change it to C9300X-NM-4C, C9300X-NM-8Y or C9300X-NM-8M, or select C9300X-NM-NONE. A slot left without a module needs a blank, and C9300X-NM-4C needs Cisco IOS XE Bengaluru 17.6.1 or later.
Second power supply: A second PWR-C1-715WAC-P is selected by default and C9300-SPS-NONE removes it. Removing it leaves the switch without power supply redundancy.
Stack cables: A 3 m StackWise cable and a 150 cm StackPower cable come with each switch unless C9300X-STACK-NONE and C9300-SPWR-NONE are selected. Unstacked switches otherwise arrive with cables they do not use.
Power cords: Select the cord type for the destination country, because the configurator defaults to North American cords and two ship with each switch.
