IE-3100-4P2S-E Description
The IE-3100-4P2S-E is a Cisco Catalyst IE3100 Rugged Series industrial switch for compact DIN-rail cabinets that power IP cameras and sensors over copper. The switch has four Gigabit PoE/PoE+ ports at up to 30W each, two Gigabit SFP uplinks and a 120W PoE budget on dual DC inputs from 12V to 54V. The 120W budget requires an input of 44V or higher, and PoE requires Cisco IOS XE 17.15.1 or later.

Product Performance
Key Features
Each of the four RJ45 downlinks supplies up to 30W under 802.3at, and 802.3af devices also work, so cameras, sensors and small access points can share one cabinet switch.
The budget is 4W to 31W with a 9.6V to 18V feed, up to 90W from 18V to 44V and up to 120W above 44V. A low-voltage bus therefore limits how many 30W endpoints can run.
A built-in boost converter turns a 12V or 24V input into the 54V used for PoE, and PoE operates across the full 9.6V to 60V absolute input range.
PoE on this switch is available from Cisco IOS XE 17.15.1, so the powered ports stay off until the switch runs that release or later.
The two uplinks are 1000BASE-X SFP ports that take 1G and 100M modules at up to 825 mW each, with no copper option on either port.
One DIN-rail supply feeds both the switch and the PoE load, so the total must fit inside the supply wattage. The 170W DC unit PWR-IE170W-PC-DC= is not supported on this model.
Application Scenarios
A roadside or perimeter cabinet can power up to four IP cameras or sensors directly from the switch, and the PoE+ ports supply up to 30W to each of them.
An outlying OT cell with its own enclosure can return traffic to the plant network over the two SFP uplinks, with no copper run between the cabinet and the network core.
At a site fed from a 24V or 48V DC bus, the switch accepts 12V to 54V input and boosts it internally to supply PoE, so no separate PoE injector is needed.

IE-3100-4P2S-E is the powered version of IE-3100-4T2S-E: both have four copper ports and two SFP uplinks, but IE-3100-4P2S-E supplies a 120 W PoE budget with up to 30 W per port, so cameras and access points need it while data-only cabinets can use IE-3100-4T2S-E. An endpoint that needs up to 90 W on one port moves to IE-3100-3P1U2S-E, which keeps the same 120 W budget for the whole switch and offers one 4PPoE port of up to 90 W beside three PoE+ ports. Cabinets with more than four powered endpoints need IE-3100-8P2C-E, with eight PoE+ ports, a 125 W default budget that can be raised to 240 W with a suitable power supply and configuration, and two combo uplinks instead of SFP-only ones.

Ordering Checklist
- Power supply: Order PWR-IE65W-PC-AC=, PWR-IE65W-PC-DC= or PWR-IE170W-PC-AC=; PWR-IE170W-PC-DC= is not supported on this model. The switch plus its PoE load must fit inside the supply wattage.
- DC input voltage: Feed 44 V or higher for the 120 W default budget; 18-44 V allows up to 90 W and 9.6-18 V up to 31 W. A low-voltage feed cannot power four 30 W endpoints.
- SD card: Add SD-IE-1GB= or SD-IE-16GB=; the card is optional and does not ship by default. Without a card there is no stored configuration to restore when a failed switch is replaced.
- Catalyst Center subscription: Add IE3100-DNA-E-L with a -1Y, -3Y, -5Y, -7Y or -10Y term, only if Catalyst Center Essentials manages the switch. IE3100-DNA-E-L covers up to 12 ports, which fits this 6-port switch; IE3100-DNA-E-M covers up to 24.
- Rack mounting: Add STK-RACK-DINRAIL=, the 19-inch rack kit for DIN-rail mounting. The rack kit is its own order line, so it is missing unless added.
